IMO we need to rotate Pant shanker and Jadhav. Give them all chances and pick the best. I feel Pant is a better slogger than Shanker or Jadhav.

I think on balance Shankar at 4 and Pant down the order in place of Jadhav.

Horrific news. Glad to see Pant in the squad, as he should've been selected in the first place, but not happy about the cost. With Bhuvi out as well, we are lucky we have got most of our difficult games out of the way, and need to build some confidence now against these lesser sides to take into the knock-outs...

Only if its raining and cloudy does Shankar's bowling approach anywhere near "effective".  And as far as batting ability is concerned, Jadhav is a much better fit for this line-up than Shankar.  Jadhav's numbers in the last 10 overs of ODIs are all-world.  Shankar cannot give you that punch.  He's a quality bat, but just not a good fit.  We cannot just pray for Pandya fireworks to drag our scores to a proper finish at the end.  In every game.   

 

 Shankar is a much better fielder than Jadhav though.

Both are cannon-fodder - and dependent on conditions.  But Jadhav has shown that he's more effective, especially against non-asian teams in flat conditions.  With Eng/Aus/NZ as the likely contenders - its obvious who is a better choice for India.  Those teams would much rather face Shankar than Jadhav - regardless of conditions.

Big loss , but if you have to look for positives then its better he got injured in the early stages . it should allow the team to settled down before semis .

 

Pant for Shankar imo . I know he was useful in the last match , but the batting looks extremely weak with him in the middle order .

Bad luck for Dhawan. It's good they made the replacement call early. Pant should be in at 4/5 straightaway.Finally he got in.

becoz both hasnt failed till now and pant didnt do much when given chances . Both have utility and pant is a match who comes with inconsistency. Its about being fair....they both cant be dropped till they fail .

Kedar and VS playing together is more of a suicide attempt,you can get away with it against pak but going forward teams are going to come hard at us knowing the fact we already have lost the services of our ICC BEAST
