Tbf losing to that ATG team wasn't a shame, even if we had batted first there's no guarantee that we'd last 50 overs as the group game showed us! What's also certain is that our bowlers regularly drop the ball, metaphorically speaking, in high pressure situations like WC or CT, even WT20. So what's the way around that - better strategy. We failed to chase a beatable total in 2015 SF because we gave up too early, aside from the fact that the top 3 imploded close to each other. In 2017 CT we had no plan B or C for tulleybaaz Fakhar, not to mention Kohli chose to field first :whack:

So there's a couple of problems that creep up in KO games - strategy, nerves!

We've lost 4 ICC KO games this decade - more than any other nation & that's down not just to the opposition playing better than us! For every step we take towards becoming a great cricketing nation, we take at least half a step back & frankly with our pop & resources we should be dominating cricket right now!

Maybe, but we're still unbeaten.

And the same middle order got us past Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and the West Indies.

If anything, its the other sides who should worry about having to face us in the semis.

Where other teams are celebrating shock wins or one or two great moments after struggling badly, we are so busy complaining that we are not enjoying our team being professional and ruthless and crushing every opponent.

best statement to reflect the reality. great post.

“India” is an adverb? Obviously asking that question of looking up what an adverb is. Lost touch with my wren and Martin :p:

Where is "India" in the thread title?

He started the sentence with "Sometimes".

India is a proper noun.

Batting first if the top three all fail, then it is curtains.

Same if we are chasing a 300+ target. Bowling is our strength. WTF is Shankar doing in the team if he does not bowl. Put Pant in, at least he can entertain us with some somersaults. :giggle:

And now you start one with a conjunction.

Oh wait, so did I.

To answer your question, it's good for forceful headings and sounds different. Feels like a conversation which has already started and you are a part of. I think sometimes we whine too much or in my opinion we whine too much doesnt flow that well in my mind

Whining is what Pakistani do-Talking about replacing players every other day and creating conspiracies.

People here have concerns, Pandya bailed out India doesnt rule out incompetence of Dhoni who just hit out Oshane Thomas in last over that too after getting 2 lives.India have replacements who can be proven to better than current players and people raising that do not mean whining. Our last 2 batting performances were pathetic, Living in denial is dangerous.

Our ODI team is s very good one.

We are now the number 1 ODI team in the world.

We have ODI series wins against Australia, SA, NZ and the WI in the last 18 months.  First 3 away from home.

We are very consistent.

Our ODI bowling attack is the most varied and perhaps the best in the world.  2 genuine fast bowlers, 1 genuine swing bowler, 1 right arm and 1 left arm wrist spinner.  4 of our top 5 bowlers average between 21 and 25.

Our top 3 batters are all greats.  Pandya is a very high SR batter and an ideal end over big hitter.

BUT

We have  weak No.4 to No.6.  They have not been tested against big teams yet.

That is the concern.

I have no doubt that we will win most ODI games these days.

But what will happen if the middle order is tested against a strong bowling attack in the SF or Final. !!

No one knows.

And therein lies the concern.

I hope a very good team like ours is not let down by the only chink in the armour that exists.

Anyway ...  not much can be done now.  The time to address this issue is long gone.

Let's hope for the best and support our team to the fullest. !

Actually, the bowling attack doesn't even need to be strong for our middle order to be tested. CT 2017 was a good example. have the top order dismissed and run through the middle order like a hot knife carving through butter.

Shankar has to be replaced with DK or Pant.

Heck, even Bhuvi can score more runs than him at 4. perhaps that is not a bad idea - we will have a more solid batsman than shankar and a much better bowler as well.
