Nikola Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Still has 2-3 matches left to play in the worldcup so should get past 50 mark easily. He is 29 right now so should play 1 more worldcup and be still good enough to get near mcgrath's wicket tally specially if format of 2023 worldcup is similar to current one. Discuss.
maniac Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) That’s such an amazing record by McGrath though also he played only 4 world cups 1996-2007 The next 2 on the list Murali played 5 1996-2011 and Wasim played 5 1987-2003 Edited June 29, 2019 by maniac

Jimmy Cliff Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Starc has a mind-boggling bowling average of 12.97 in WCs . Makes McGrath look expensive at 18.19. Adi BB and Nikola 2

Australia has got their combination right and here we are stuck with ridged mentality of not trying out other players. Our Gun player ,who scored hundred against Australia is not playing either... Australia has upper hand vs India now . Edited June 29, 2019 by Stuge
zen Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) It would make sense to discuss this in 2023 when more information is available on factors such as: Starc's form and fitness in 2023 Bowling strength of Aus in 2023 Format of 2023 PS whatever is discussed now, chances are not many would remember in 2023 Edited June 29, 2019 by zen

Stan AF Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 OMG what a truly astounding match winner. Already etched his name as a MOTS in the last cup and is well on his way to carve another MOTS in this edition. No one is even nearly close to him.

Start has just 16 less than half of both and only 25 wickets behind.
nevada Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I don't think so. He might not even play the next world cup. He has had quite a few injuries and might break down soon due to all the load he is putting on his body during this tournament.

He will come back fit in 2023 worldcup as well. Mitch Johnson had similar issues like him and look how he peaked in his last couple of years. Edited June 30, 2019 by Nikola

The Aussie selectors have done a good job of keeping him fresh for this world cup and could pull off the same in 2023 also. But 4 years is a long time, hopefully they won't!
