Khota Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 They get extra two days of rest compared to second semi final winner. This is not fair.

Doesn't matter ,iirc India had just 1 or 2 day gap between the mega sf and the finals in 2011 and they performed well equally,Good teams find a way ! Anyway the rest after the final GS match till the 2nd sf is a big one, so it all equals Frustrated 1
WeStMiDz Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Not sure how advantageous a couple of extra days are when you have the adrenaline of the World Cup final around the corner. Only beneficial if you have a couple of niggles.
Gollum Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) Also more time for useless diversion, wavering mind and nerves. Shorter gap means teams can remain switched on. Cricket isn't as physical or injury prone as football, rugby nor does it cause as much fatigue as tennis. 2 days gap is perfectly fine. Hell in most field hockey tournaments teams play daily, same in the case of swimming, athletics.....they don't whine do they? Khota Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 If you look at FIFA schedule they try to ensure the rest time is the same for all teams. Two days extra is a lot because the is almost a day.
maniac Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 A break in between can also break the momentum and the rhythm. In fact don’t see it as a big deal for 2-3 extra days. Had it been more than a week then may be.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 In the last 3 Wcs 2015 2nd semi final was played by Aus and final was won by Aus 2011 2nd semi final was Played by Ind and Final was won by india 2007 2nd semi final was played by Aus and won final won by Aus Zero_Unit, Norman, Sgattick10 and 1 other 3 1

jf1gp_1 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 (edited) Shouldn't it be the other way. If I am in final I would want to happen it right away. Waiting for an event to occur might not help. Edited July 8, 2019 by jf1gp_1
vayuu1 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Other thing you have not noticed is India hasn't played at lords in this tournament while both eng and aus has. Norman and Sgattick10 2
mishra Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 As long as Lords has got space for boundries bigger than 59 mtr. It should be ok. BTW Finals game pitch should be right in middle.
Adorable Fan Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Incase India go through to Final, its not much big advantage. We havnt played a single match at Lords this WC. And some English pundit said teams with LHB fast bowlers will have a advantage in Lords with the slope. And we don't have any left arm seamers. Hopefully we meet England incase we go through to finals. The Aussie bastards will be different beast altogether in Finals

Boss those 60 mins are more than enough, field hockey is bloody taxing on the body and the injuries scary eg getting hit by that rock from few yards in unprotected areas in PC. Min yo-yo score of Indian women's hockey team is more than Indian men's cricket team's average, half the Indian women players have higher score than Kohli, Pandey and Pandya.....now if I bring in the men things will get really ugly. Can't compare a lazy sport like cricket with energy intensive ones. Waise 60 mins, 7 hours, game duration can't be used as a metric...warna basketball, water polo etc are less than an hour and combat sports under 15 mins....cricket is a soft sport for unathletic people. Unless both matches are played on the same day, team who qualifies for final in the first semi match will always have more days of rest than the second team. Your fifa schedule logic makes no sense in this scenerio.

I know how intensive hockey is in general ,but still you are comparing apple and oranges.

Makes up for 2 less days between the final round robin game and SF. Besides this gives more time to read all the crap that traditional and social media is likely to put out there, if they make it.
