Cricketics Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Anderson doesn't play limited over cricket or in leagues how Steyn would. Now t20 might not put too much load on your body since its just 4 overs, but you have to go through your practice drills regularly with your teams where you are bowling a lot and that is what actually takes toll on the body. So knowing that Anderson is not involved at all in any of that, he an continue to play for another year or two of test cricket by picking and chosing overseas tours and Ashes series to keep himself health. At 37, he is already 2-3 years past the typical career ending age for fast bowlers. It's frustrating to have injuries derail hopes for one last hurrah in a marquee series or tournament. The most high profile fast bowler to bow out on a high is probably McGrath, who had a stellar 2007 world cup prior to retiring.

Post tyhe age of 37, Hadlee took 58 wkts@21 , Walsh had 96 wkts@21 Walsh infact had 180 wkts@21 after the age of 35. Just for numbers, Herath had 233 wkts@25 after 35. Two real ageless warriors if there were any.

Hadlee Walsh played a lot of county cricket too but somehow managed to keep himself fit and in form till the very end.

Don't think Botham was better than Anderson when it comes to bowling. Botham was a better batter though and provided an allround ability to the English team. Stokes would make a good comparison to Botham and Stokes would win that fight like he did when he fought those homophobic army veterans
