Gollum Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 (edited) D/N test in late November with peak Kolkata dew, never change BCCI Edited October 29, 2019 by Gollum saik, nevada, Real McCoy and 1 other 4
Jimmy Cliff Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 1st ever D/N Test against Bangbr0s . Mosher and Real McCoy 2
SrinjayDutta Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 (edited) Probably will go to the ground as it is a historic occasion, first time in subcontinent. Dew would a dampner though. Ball would swing extremely in eden from afternoon onwards, and then dew may turn things the other way. Edited October 29, 2019 by SrinjayDutta AuxiliA, Real McCoy and Suhaan 1 2
LordPrabhzy Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 with the amount of money BCCI has.. why not relay the ground with under ground heating to avoid dew forming. There has to be a radical investment by BCCI to promote day night tests rather than test matches being played in front of empty stands. putrevus and nevada 2

Very good idea but is such technology available.NFL teams have been using heaters to defreeze football fields for many years.

Ganguly is trying to make changes like how Aus has done. But there is no need for that here. Just keep the pricing down and the crowds will come. Maybe Ganguly wants to have more tv audience for tests. Considering the population of India and the popularity of the game here, this may not be necessary. Also the dew saik and Gollum 2

I heard the pink ball swings more in the night but that was in Aus. and hard to grip for the spinners. Will be interesting to see. Talented Mr.Sharma may score a triple century this time considering its in Eden
cowboysfan Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 good news but against a terrible opponent, match will not 3 days unless it rains.

Ankit_sharma03 Posted October 29, 2019 Author Posted October 29, 2019 While talking to PTI about this decision, Ganguly said, “It's just my job, that's what I'm here for... Because I've played this game for so long. It's great. I think common sense is important. And I think it's a great move for Test cricket and hopefully it will bring crowds back to the ground.” “Test cricket needs this push. Me and secretary Jay (Shah) and our new team were pretty hell bent on it. Thanks to Virat (Kohli) also, he agreed straightaway. And even more to Bangladesh Cricket Board that they agreed at such a short notice. It's a good way forward,” he added. When asked about dew being a problem, the 47-year-old said, “We will make sure there's no dew. After all day/night one-dayers are played here. There's this dew treatment spray and all. Nothing will happen.” While talking about the ball to be used in this Test match, the former left-handed batsman said, “Hopefully SG...Because the first match will be with SG so the second Test will also have to be with SG.” When asked why not the Kookaburra pink balls, Ganguly replied, “No, it can't be because the series has to be played with same ball. It can't be two different balls in the same series.” Lastly, Ganguly said Shakib Al Hasan getting banned for two years won't be affecting Bangladesh that much in the pink ball Test, he said, “I don't think it's going to be a problem. They have such quality players they would adjust easily," Ganguly sounded confident that the match won’t lose its competitive flavour without Shakib Link -https://circleofcricket.com/category/IND_v_BAN_2019/44057/ind-v-ban-2019-test-cricket-needs-this-push-says-sourav-ganguly-after-announcing-day-night-test

Under Soil heating is regularly been used in English Premier League grounds for many years now. It’s used to prevent build up of snow on the pitches.. similar concept can be adapted to keep the cricket ground completely dry.

Under soil heating is being used by NFL teams for last 50 years to defreeze frozen football field as NFL is played in winter and many stadiums are outdoor.I don't think it will work in case of overhead dew,
