Runs Scored Against Pakistan, Do They Mean Anything

Do runs score against the Shaheen Shah and the sixteen year old boy wonder Musa mean anything. This is a Ranji level attack playing for Pakistan. The weakest I have ever seen. I am happy for Warner that he scored 300+ but is it the same as Sehwags, Nairs or Lara's runs? I am not so sure. This points to fallacy of averages done in cricket. They need to find a way to assign some sort of weights to bowlers before runs matter. All these runs against a sub par attack mean nothing.

Same thing can be said about us when we bash Bangladesh, Srilanka, West Indies and other poor attacks regularly in home conditions.

Even in past we had games against Nambia, kenya n all specially in 2000s

im saying its always been like that some teams have had weaker attacks .....at the end even if its not test its going in record for LOI

During our 2011 overseas tours , 0-8 debacle our attack was so miserable that opp piled on runs n runs

so m agreeing with u even we do plunder similarly poor attacks like bang, SL

bu namib and kenya never played tests. Zim did ( during that time their attack was not that poor).

recent times the poorest attacks have been SL and BD now..Pak.

Zimb attack started becoming bad around 2005 when their issue started happening

i knw i wrote this, still players made record in ODI....record is a record . Also bang started playing test cricket from 2000 wasnt a gr8 attack and neither great batting that helped bowlers boost their stats specially take irfan pathan for example. Take his wkts against zimb n bang out of test cricket n then see his record

Our bowling was mediocre but don’t forget it’s our batting that let us down.

We are the opposite of Pak in so many ways, they always blame their batsmen when their bowlers are the ones who have screwed them many times and we do exactly the opposite.

Atleast 2-3 tests could have been easily drawn had atleast 1 batsman stepped up and supported Dravid in England and Virat in Australia.

PK took a fifer, Ishant took a fifer, I remember Sreeshanth bowling 1 incredible spell. Not saying we didn’t suck for the most part with the ball but our batting and fielding were way worse.

On topic though, if we keep adding caveats to every innings, there won’t be much left.

Runs are Runs.

Scoring a 300 takes a lot of patience,concentration,fitness/stamina and skill.

I have seen big players get out cheaply to weak teams because they just lost focus. So kudos to warner

Why should it be that way? It’s not like Irfan tooK 6 wickets in 6 balls and didn’t leave anything for the other bowlers right?

Unless it is the kind of shady knock played by Pranav Dhanwade in school cricket, every knock or spell counts obviously how memorable they become or how they leave behind the legacy depends on the opposition but the records don’t become any cheaper.

They do matter cause they are the only way to make Misbah get off of power.

This emphasis of youth in Indian and Pakistani culture is the cause for this problem. How do bowlers like Amir and Wahab sit at home and these toddlers get to play?

kota may be you have much in common with peaceful culture rest of India does not. Amir retired and he and Wahab would have done jack **** if they played as well, in fact they would have done worse.

Thats because atleast one of them, Amir is a traitor to his country. He plays only for money.

Atleast Wahab, whenever he has played, goes out there and given his 200% on the field. And one can excuse him for retiring from test cricket because of his age. But how can one excuse Amir for choosing not to play test for his country?

But really cant blame Warner for that. He will only play whats presented to him. I think the ICC does rate the value of each innings, and this inning would weigh very low. And I think thats the only penalty that Warner could be given!

m saying the same , at the end they all count.

Irfan pathan was an example that even in that decade in test cricket they also got some easy teams
