Lannister Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Their whole legacy is built on bashing teams in bilaterals. They wouldn't want want to miss out on easy runs against a minnow on flat home tracks. Come the ICC tournaments, the hacks will keep getting humiliated. raki05 1
R!TTER Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Just imagine if SRT didn't decide to rest in the series vs SL in 2008, there would be no Brat to discuss beetle, raki05 and sergio04 3

Say we tried youngsters for top 3 and all of them are very successful in this series, what happens next. Will you keep playing them at top three spots or shift them to middle order when Rohit and Kohli return. Dhoni was tried in top order when he was coming up but he was part of team , he was not replacing any senior in the team. This T20 and odi team has weak spots which need to be filled, find youngsters who fit those roles not rest Kohli and Rohit and try to create a problem when it is not there. How is it fair for any player to play three matches and then kicked out of the team Edited December 19, 2019 by putrevus OpeningBatsman 1
ganeshran Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Do it in ODIs now. T20s after the world cup.
putrevus Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 What is this insane need to find replacement for players who have atleast 4 plus year of career left. There are very big holes for this team in few spots, try youngsters for those roles. This strategy of finding players for spots which are already filled does not make this team stronger. OpeningBatsman and Frustrated 1 1
beetle Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 It won't happen. Big boys won't miss the lollipop series.

The TM is giving proper chances to youngsters viz Iyer, Pant , Sundar , Chahar, Dube etc in t20 format. There is no need to experiment by replacing all 11 players at a time. That would be stupidity. Some ICFers are just too impatient unnecessarily. OpeningBatsman 1

ShoonyaSifar Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 We have ‘rested’ Kuldeep, Chahal, Bumrah, Shami for so many T20 matches. If bowlers can be rested/rotated, why can’t these senior batsmen, playing T20s for 10+ years, be rested for an inconsequential series. Laughable to read excuses like what if their replacements do well etc. That’s precisely the point. Play a young team in LOIs and they will do almost equally well as the team with seniors. raki05 1

Another important thing to consider , WC in 2023 3.5 years away. Dhawan - already 34 , Kedar -35 and both injury prone , rohit nearing 33 looks not in good shape. They will be 36-38 range by WC . Do you think these will be at their peak in 2023 ?. Check any great player and his performance around this age . they will be loosing their edge by that time . Hence very critical you find at least 3 openers and give them 30+ matches before WC so that you have 3 openers ready . If rohit is in great form even in 23, please play him , but should have back ups ready. Why this simple fact is not getting noticed , fail to understand. Lets look at the scenario - You play these players for another 3 years , then you find out that they are not performing upto the mark , but you still play them hoping they will come back to heir best past form but its not happening . Its almost 6 -8 months to go for WC. What you do now ? Go for guys who have not even played 10-15 matches ? Also factor in fielding standards with these 36-38 years old. If Kohli Shastri had their way, their 2023 WC team will look like Rohit (36), Dhawan (37), Kohli (35), Jadhav (37), Dhoni (41), Jadeja (34), Ashwin (36), Bhuvi (32), Shardul (32), Chahar (31). Iyer (28), Pandya (29) and Bumrah (29) could be the only under 30 players in the squad. raki05 1

Nobody is asking not play 18-19 year olds. All we are asking is play them in the roles which are needed for the team.Rohit was played because there was an opening in middle order.Kohli made his debut as an opener.Did 18 year old Rohit Sharma replace Sachin tendulkar as an opener in 2007.That is what you are asking TM to do.How exactly replacing Rohit with Gill or Shaw in this T20 series going to solve middle order problem. It is your level of insanity which on display. Edited December 19, 2019 by putrevus OpeningBatsman, Frustrated and sarcastic 1 1 1

Dhawan , shami, jadhav none has 4 yrs left...u start the process now when 3-4 yrs are left so youngsters get 30-40 games exp. U cant take youngsters in WC with less then 10 games experience. 18 hours ago, putrevus said: Try youngsters for what spots?? Shaw vs samson for t20...how do u decide without trying and u cant take them without game time. 18 hours ago, putrevus said: Willyou keep playing them at top three spots or shift them to middle order when Rohit and Kohli return. Indian team will only be stronger of these guys get enough exp to win without those 2. These are the series we need to try that for. Aussie did this so well during their domination era.
