Whats the media reaction like?

What is the media reaction like in India after this @ss whooping which  we received in New Zealand?

 

I just get the feeling that Indian team  got lucky not to get much headlines due to the recent Delhi riots news which has taken over in India. Or is it that media has still found  time to to keep cricket team in check?

 

Honestly,  after such a poor performance, this is the first time I see not much  being written, perhaps they really got lucky that the poor  performance came at a time when whole country and  media is busy with Delhi riots.

Would love to hear from people in India.

Cricket is a revenue generator for the "media". I doubt that the media will want to create disinterest in it .... better off passing it off as "overseas mein aisa toh hota hai. Come to Ind."

There has NEVER been any huge media outcry after a SENA loss/thrashing. Only time ppl lost their s**t was WC 2007 knockout. Even Dhoni leading us to depths in 2011-12 got brushed off as transition etc.

Most of the criticism is directed towards Shastri, Kohli not so much.

Media knows that there are consequences if you are too direct in criticism.  They also have to feed their kids after all.  Do not expect "media" to lead the accountability charge.  That is on BCCI.  Its on Ganguly.

95% of India sports media is on the PR payrolls of Kohli, on social media perhaps that number is 100%. There is a reason why many of us have regularly been calling them out as Kohli's PR mafia.

True,  it will be  interesting to see what measures Ganguly takes. Don't want to sound cynic here and assume nothing will be done or say things IPL will come and people will forget.  Well those things are common, people will ofcourse forget  it, but I hope Ganguly  and co take strict action on this.

 

Barring Prithvi Shaw, who is an extremely young batsman and showed signs of looking like a top class batsman, every player in the batting line up and their performance needs to be questioned. Multiple failures and the captain looking toothless at times and the less said the better about stingy Kohli-Shastri combo the better, must all be addressed.

 

Ganguly's real role starts here He must make his position count.

Why should Mayank, Vihari and Pant be questioned - all of them have played less than 15 Tests in their career. Vihari and Pant were asked to make a comeback in these tough conditions after being benched in the home series against weak opposition.

 

Should they be disappointed for not grabbing their chances? Absolutely, wasa golden chance to prove their worth. Can they really be blamed for not being ready to be successful? Perhaps not. Both were not even sure of starting a couple of days before the Test series started.

Last superstar of Indian cricket was Dhoni,i dont think there will be ever one ,not because Thala was once in a lifetime player but because he came and played most of his cricket in the time when people used to get too much emotional with wins and losses,connection with the team has disappeared somewhere,most of my childhood friends who used to call themselves ardent fans , can barely name guys who are playing today ,Kohli may well wish to pose naked in SM even that won't make a difference , people simply don't care

questioning is good. Questioning doesn’t mean asking them to be dropped. Mayank has been brilliant for us just that bit scrutiny is needed so that no one takes their place for granted and sit on past laurels. We don’t want Mayank becoming Rahane of recent history. A bit of pressure is important.

People have started to realize that cricket is no longer the only news item in India. The riots in Delhi may have played its part, but this series went under the scanner for the most part.
