Whether climate had anything to do with it, time will tell but there has been a great effort and cooperation from everyone to fight this virus like the lockdown measures and spreading awareness, barring a minor hiccups which are to be expected. Even if at the end of it all, if number of deaths are kept below even 10000, India would consider we dodged a bullet because a situation like this has all the makings of an epic disaster in a country like India.

Are consumers angry enough to be more intelligent to buy products made outside China? Are consumers happy to pay the extra price, or make things last longer rather then buying new electronics every six months, ordering all sorts of junk from Amazon/Flipkart just because it's cheap? There is not much governments can do unless consumers react with their wallets. Americans couldn't even fathom of paying money extra for their Apple products, that Trump was forced to grant tariff waivers for Apple products manufactured in China. It's the hypocrisy of consumers that's more nauseating than global leaders and politicians.
