Gollum Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 IIRC once Kaali Dal said that Inzamam was more talented than Sachin/Lara, as great as them and that he was the best player against pace.
Gollum Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 Daaktar saab's 'hain' exclamation at 0:20 mark Sandeep99, Laaloo, Norman and 5 others 8

This is his List A record You may disagree with his statement, and selectors may not pick it, but it is not as outrageous as you're claiming to be. Pujara in Royal London One-Day Cup 2018: Matches: 8 Runs: 370 SR: 90.02 Avg: 52.85 I am not making a point of his inclusion in ODI team. He is slow runner and with knee problem he might not fit. But if anyone says that they would pick him in ODI team, then it could also mean that they have seen him more than armchair experts. No it doesn't make me wonder that whether guy has played international cricket. It makes me wonder if he has seen more in domestic cricket and probably sees something in player which makes him believe of his opinion. AuxiliA, Rasgulla, nevada and 1 other 4

His fielding might be a bit weak but he is a very good batsman. I know people will be shocked by my claim but if you want a quality batsman who is better than the options India has tried off late, I think Pujara is the best choice,” he explained.

Not a great attack to be honest (im not saying he cant but bat but if this tournament not a good supportive one) why this statement is outlandish pujara has played few ODI and he looked like a fish out of water. 5 odi ....avg of 10 and s/r of 39 30 ipl games ....s/r of 99 avg 0f 20 The logic is so one can hold a endup which rohit, kohli, dhawan already do at a better s/r so why need one more. This part is the most bizzare claim about it Its 2020, we cant have such bizaare ideas for LOI Its 2020, running between wkts n fielding logic shudnt even be given as everyone shud understand that they are must or atleast one of them n he has no case , had he then IPL teams wud have picked him . Even guys like rahane n rayudu who has had s/r issues are pillars for their IPL teams. Even in Domestic 50 over games he has played many innings in last few years that have costed his team only This statement makes me wonder do most of the Ex understand modern cricket and its been seen over the years they dont beetle and saik 2

Even today WI's win% in tests is higher than India's, they lead us in H2H comfortably (may take another 15 years to overturn it), won the last ICC trophy in India, far better in Eng than our shoopershtars.

He'd be a liability in the sense that he would never be explosive when required. Like Dravid never was. Still, his votaries among ex cricketers are hardly being delusional the way this nonsense OP makes it out to be. Just so we are clear, I'd personally never elect him for the LOIs. Rahane n rayudu cudnt do that who were good IPL players n u expect pujara whom no IPL side picks even his last list A innings was 36 runs in 92 balls Last Vijay hazare tournament he played in 2018-19 his s/r was 55.......yes 55

Dhoni was ATG ODI batsman, but avg in T20I. Great in IPL. Not comparing Pujara and Dhoni, but highlighting that players can be poor in one LO format even after being good in other LO format. And kinda agree with @sarchasm. It's not that outrageous statement as you have made it out to be. In other threads, people are talking about selector's eyes for talent. Maybe he saw some role for Pujara in ODI team. He may be in minority though. There have been zillions of occasions when cricketers have proved armchair experts wrong.

Rohit takes his time even in ODI cricket He is comparing Rohit's batting with his own batting and saying that he wanted to bat in similar manner i.e. hitting at will and taking calculated risks which Sharma has shown with his innings. What's bad in that? Unless we are looking into dissecting each word, I guess we can get the gist of what he's is saying. He was commenting after Khel Ratna to Rohit Sharma news. He also said "The way you see a Rohit Sharma opening the batting in one-day cricket, Test cricket smashing from the first over," he said. "That is what I wanted to play. Circumstances and, of course, lack of confidence in my ability did not allow me to do that. But when I see the next generation doing it, I am absolutely over the moon, I love watching the next generation because there you see progress. You see how they are setting the bar higher for the next generation." cricketfan28 1

If he is good enough to play ofi he shud be atleast good enough to be in squads atleast.
