Is equally good vs spin . He would be my priority pick for 50 overs as back up for iyer . Feel we need a #4 for 50 overs who has these kind of game to carry one end and 5 , 6 & 7 will do the hitting . I will put my money and say he will jump the queue with his focus & game smarts over Pant , Kishan , Pandey and will give competition to Iyer if Iyer slacks . Specially against the west Indies A .. where he opened with gill.. Those matches were broadcasted in youtube... The way gaikwad was hitting spinners over extra cover for sixes with so little effort was incredible to see... Even west Indies commentators were impressed by his range of shots.. Here he has shown he is not intimated by express pace.. nd this makes him a better prospect than iyer who is limited in stroke play against express pace... I will hv samson nd gaikwad as proper candidate for no 4... Both are equally good against pace nd spin...

The ones with good temperament and game smarts will make it big. Gill, Shaw, Padikkal and now Gaikwad is that pool of young specialist batsmen for me. Tyagi, Prasidh and Mavi is my pool of young fast bowlers. R.Chahar and Bishnoi are the spinners Pant and Kishan the keeper-batsmen. Give these players priority, earlier chances, more chances and a much longer rope. Develop them specially. ---- Talking about U25 players only. Devdutt has been more consistent. gaikwad has got two good innings , back to back padikal is not fluent and got stuck in the middle overs ( much like your SRKs shubman gill ) , he needs to improve rotating the strike and his power game .. gaikwad is more complete player and he already passed Lockie Fergusons pace test just syaing he has got more sparks than padikkal

If we had you as our chief selector instead of the parochial muddle-heads who have occupied that office, India would have easily won 2-3 WCs more. @express bowling Not trolling you.
