Bowling performance issues in last 4 ODI's with the new ball.

Bumrah, Shami and Saini need to bowl test match lines and lengths in the first 12 overs in ODIs.

Target the top of off stump ball after ball in the first 12 overs and do it at full pace. This will fetch a lot more wickets. And keep 1 or 2 slips based on the conditions.

We are bowling defensive lines and lengths upfront. Back of a length and into the body. Defensive lines and lengths mean no wickets and no wickets mean more runs in the end.

We are missing a swing bowler upfront, why not Deepak Chahar?

Im not sure about him in ODI , As teams have more time and their comes a middle phase as well

t20 he is a must for me

Shami, Bumrah, Saini are our best bowlers we have to stick with them...they have to pull their socks up

What else to expect when we had the captain and coach saying ODIs do not matter, our focus is T20s or at some other our focus is test series.

This reflects in the poor team selection, casual approach on the field and clearly visible lack of plans

Not just pull up their socks ... but bowl attacking lines and lengths with the aim of picking wickets. And keep sufficient slips based on the conditions.

Waiting for someone to say we are missing bhuvi

You stole the words from my mouth. I was just going to post that

Shami actually used to be effective in PP.  Bumrah has had issues with new ball.  Someone like Siraj can be tried though.  Not sure why Nattu was added into ODI squad.  He looks T20 specialist to me

It's the lack of intensity and a casual approach, as if the ODIs do not matter for the coach and captain (which they have even admitted publicly). Same old approach, no new strategies, same field placements, captain lost in his own thoughts and the coach happy with his drinks.

We have regressed in LOIs and will keep falling further under this TM.

Good strategy! It's better to attack in the first 10-12 overs with 1-2 slips and try to grab wickets upfront. I would go with 2 slips for the first six and then go to 1 or persist with 2 if needed. Being happy that the opponent is "only" 100 for no loss in 20 overs is costing us big time. Wickets should be the focus, just going through the motions and hoping that the opponent will not hammer you too much is a losing strategy.

Jasprit Bumrah's ODI figures this year (so far):
60.1-3-310-1
He's now gone 44 overs without a wicket!

Most if it is due to the ODIs Bumrah has played just after coming back from stress fracture of the back.

He got back to his groove in the 2nd test vs NZ, when he picked up 5 wickets and looked good. Followed it up with loads of wickets in the IPL.

And we have hardly played any ODIs this year due to COVID.

Sometimes, just stats without the backdrop don't tell the full story

I am not worried about Bumrah at all. All he has to do is bowl attacking lines and lengths like he did when he opened the bowling in the IPL. Pace, bounce, seam movement, yorkers, bouncers etc. are all working well.

Shami would get wickets too. He has bowled attacking lines and lengths. My slight worry about him is ... why was he not running in as well and why was he down on pace yesterday ?  Is he carrying a niggle ?

Saini need a to be guided properly. Has has bowled short-ish and widish. Arun needs to tell him to target the top of off stump regularly and bouncers should be used as a surprise weapon ... one or two every over.
