sage Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Excludes the dozen drops in the most recent matches. When will someone tell Rat fielding isn't a function of how many abs someone has? saik, Austin 3:!6, sandeep and 6 others 1 2 4 1 1
maniac Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Dhawan only 2? I swear I saw him drop 2 catches in the same game recently, Pretty sure he has dropped a billion chances before, May be because he was injured for the most part of 2019 after WC raki05, Nikola and Gollum 3
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Iyer at 3 and he doesnt even play one format unlike pant n kohli - show this to sunny g who kept repeating that iyer is a very very very good fielder
Tibarn Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 crictracker.com/analysing-the-performance-of-slip-fielders-in-last-10-years-in-tests/ Quote CricViz analysed the performance of the slip fielders in terms of catches taken in the longest format of the game in last 10 years. And it has turned out that former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith has managed to grab 89.2% of the catches that came his way. The list includes a total of 19 players including Smith who have taken 30 or more slip catches since 2010 and India skipper Virat Kohli has dropped most among them. He has managed to get hold of 63.6% of the catches in the slips while he shelled the rest of them. While Kohli’s ground fielding is exceptional, his catching, according to this analysis, is not great. sage, Gollum and sorak 1 2

BacktoCricaddict Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Incomplete analysis without knowing how many times each got a catchable ball. If Kohli got 50 catchable balls and dropped 13, whereas Jaddu got 4 catchable balls and dropped all 4, Jaddu is much worse. Like @Tibarn said, % caught is more informative. Also, there should be some clear definition of what a catchable ball is.

Stan AF Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 This thread must be made sticky and should go on top of the section. Posters can constantly update and check on the stats often.
Serpico Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Pakistan's catching has massively improved in recent times while our catching has completely gone down the drain
Majestic Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) Kohli and Pant on top, leading the way. Edited December 23, 2020 by Majestic

Without proper denominators, these stats are meaningless. 6 easy catches came my way. I took them all. 100%. 8 catches came your way. 4 were tough. 4 were easy. You took total 6 out of 8. 75%. Am I better than you? sandeep 1

In cas of Kohli he drops dolly especially if we consider last few tours. Sometimes he takes absolute blinder but drops dollies . Point is if you are great fielder you should not drop dollies atleast.
Stan AF Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 We can all agree that Kohli drops the most. He's an abysmal fielder. raki05 1
