ShoonyaSifar Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Rahane's string of poor performances has been thoroughly discussed in multiple threads. I myself believe that he should have been dropped after the last Aus tour, forget being made the VC But now that the 2nd test here and it's looks like he will be the captain for the next 3 tests, can he leave behind the baggage of past failures, years of underachievement and lead this young team from the front (4 batsmen in top 6 with less than 10-12 tests each)? A few more failures and his international career will most likely end after this tour. However, if he can lead the team well, score some useful runs and show some fight, who knows what lies ahead. He had shown vs Australia in 2017 a very different style of captaincy compared to Kohli. With Kohli's captaincy stagnated and exposed thoroughly after almost 6 years of sameness, this team does need something different. What better chance than now for Rahane to step up and grab the opportunities. Does he have it in him to do so?
Majestic Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Time for Rahane to become a man and prove his worth with a test century at MCG.
Adamant Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 I was watching kohlis and rahanes performance against johnson and company. Rahane was looking even more comfortable than Kohli and banging a peak Johnson all around the park. Nowadays he bats like a coward, no strokeplay just feeble attempts at somehow getting to a respectable score. Koi jazba junoon nazar nahi dikhta. Scared kitten nevada 1
Trichromatic Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Make or break? You're talking as if he fails, ICF will drop him from the team after discussing his poor performances. Norman, SK_IH and Sandeep99 2 1
Norman Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 I'll be glad if he doesn't run Pujara or some other set batsman out at a precarious situation. Anything else is a bonus. Frustrated 1

Chances of any of the discussions here influencing team decisions is zero anyways Stan AF 1

Sandeep99 Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Nothing's going to change. The TM already lined up the bakras of the series... Gill, Mayank, Vihari, Pant are going to be blamed for the loss. nevada 1

Scared kitten I had high hopes after that innings, he played so well! Can't believe he has regressed to the point of making bowlers comfortable if he spends more time at the crease. express bowling 1
SK_IH Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 It has been break time for quite a long while now Bigg Brother 1

Serpico Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 He will do alright if top 3 scores well, can make a nice looking 50 and form a 100 run partnership to take us from 250 to 350. Just don't expect any rescue missions or counter attacks from him in case of collapse nevada 1

That's why i have fear of Mumbai lobby, they have been lobbying for crap players, tests they back Rahane Lois ,it is Iyer,he will be imposed upon us despite being utter mediocre zen 1
Bigg Brother Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Ghanta step up..His 40-50 kind of knocks are going to hurt us in long run. Daddy hundreds are going to be called step up in real sense otherwise he is going to remain fraud of highest order, Still cant belive he is going to captain us, thought days of non performing captains were over with Dhoni's retirement.
Gollum Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 He said responsibility will bring the best out of him.
The Realist Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Benchmark is set so low that would be happy if showed some anger, fight & positive body language. Runs are a bonus.
