Test cricket is about players taking on challenges and backing their strengths. Someone like Pant may back his strength in one way, while a Pujara in his way

Many of those who criticize the likes of Pujara are probably not genuine test cricket fans. They try to watch LOIs and tests in the same way .... Respect test cricket or stay away from it is a simple message to those who come to watch test cricket expecting it to be a 5 days LOI game .... Test cricket is more than just 4s and 6s. It is about playing session by sessions involving playing for the day, seeing the first hour off, and so on .... Just because cricket is on, you do not need to watch it :dontknow:

Cant believe people want to drop pujara ,he is our best batsmen in these tough situations.

The first name we cry out for saving a test match or bat long Is PUJARA ,not even kohli or any other swashbucklers .

reminiscence of that Ranchi Test ,we would have lost that series and this one if not for pujara masterclass/blockathon whatever!

Only T20 gen can fault Pujara's batting. It's a method that works for him.  Different batsmen have different methods and test cricket can accomodate you if you are good at what you do.

Remember, he hadn't played any competitive cricket for almost a year before this tour.

The hatred for this guy is unbelievable.  Who are these great talents who can replace him from domestic anyway? Dude is solid as a rock. Once again, he made sure the Aussues bowl 131 overs and we should have done a lot more of that this series. Starc was averaging 147 kph last time we toured. This test he was down to an average speed of 140.xx . gHes literally taking the legs out of this OZ pace attack.

Hopefully , we win toss and bat first at the Gabba and make them bowl 150 ivers thus time.

He looked much better in the 2nd innings where he looked to score off bad balls. In the first innings he was slower unnecessarily even by his own standards. Calls for his head were OTT but criticism wasn't unwarranted.

He only scored after his 50 in second innings too. At lunch pujara was 41 of 147 balls.

Not many current Indian players have ability to survive and face 202 balls in an innings against this Aussie bowling in Australia. Those rare few  who hate Pujara in tests will probably realize his value when he retires from tests.

The situation was his own making.

With him at number 3, rule out any test win if you win n toss and bat first in this series You guys are dreaming of winning in Brisbane.

The bowlers toiled hard and restricted Aussies to a reasonable total. Both openers gave him and Rahane a sound platform on which they could have built a good lead on Aussies. Imagine India batting “positively” and taking a lead of 100 runs in this match.

Who can plays slow and completely defeats the momentum and helps in handing over a 100 runs lead to Aussies? Why not stall the play and save the match in the second innings if at all you are in trouble?

Why would you stall a charge when things are not bad, you are in the first innings and the idea is ti TAKE A LEAD NOT HAND OVER LEAD BY NOT SCORING FOR HOURS TOGETHER AND TGEN GETTING OUT ON LOW SCORE? Were they decided to play for draw after the openers departed near 100!runs on board? I can understand if the openers got out cheaply... Are you guys out of your minds? Are you guys so defeatists in nature?

Then somehow manage to save the match allowing fans to wank over your efforts... So you’ll make your team struggle every time you bat long whether you are batting in first innings or second...

Whats the harm in demanding a bit of positive play in the first innings? What’s the harm in expecting runs score on bad deliveries? What’s the harm is expecting a counter attack on Aussie bowlers ( these suckers also appreciate Pants counter attack today)...

So you guys will be okay if Pujara and Rahane do tuk Tuk after winning toss, opting to bat first in Brisbane? Will you be okay for a 280-320 score in 2 days? You want a DRAW in the next match?

You think those who criticise him don’t know their cricket?

This is like creating a situation of your own liking and deciding the outcome of the match of your own liking suiting your style of play...

Bump as much as you can. The only test won in this series was won inspite of him.. not because of him. Given a chance he would’ve drawn that test too...

Pujara made 17 & 3 in the match India won last. GO FIGURE...

A player who hasn’t played test cricket for long cones in and opens the batting and gives you over 50 stands in both the innings only for a pathetic loser to turn the match in a defensive losing contest. Where folks were hoping for a win ended up praying to save the match...

The player who gave good opening stands is expected to make centuries and blamed for the situation and called choicest of names.

Whike this genius who actually decided to play for a draw the moment Aussies posted 320 runs and openers gave 90 runs start because he can’t effing score runs for his life’s sake. The Chewt ends up handing over near 100 runs lead to the Aussies. That this idiot is being wanked over by suckers...

I’m hoping for Rahane to win toss and bat first in Brisbane... let’s see what he does... I’ll be watching you guys if your reactions on that day...

Most probably he’ll quickly get out as he can play for draw by batting first... And let other try to win the match...

Otherwise I’ll happy to eat crow... till then I’ll keep the crew in my freezer...

Ask Rohit to do the same in Brisbane :hysterical: If Pujara and Rahane had built a 100 run partnership for Pant and jadeja to freely score runs, you would have hailed his effort. It was not play for draw, but slow and steady control of the test. That is what Test Cricket 101 teaches.

Tell me what we’re you expecting when Aussies were bowled out for 320 runs and both openers got out in the first innings? A lead and probable win or a draw? Honestly...

A lead leading to  a win, of course, nobody plays for  a draw, it was D3 and 98 overs in the day. You bat for time as well, plan didn't work out that's all. He has a role to play, not play attractive nataraj pulls. He is there to bat for time in a test.

His Slow batting had nothing to do with how others batted. This is how he has batted all his life.

All Pujara haters, come and eat crow here on this thread. Match saver of India

Have to say he has proved his critics wrong including me. Although I always liked him as a successful test team needs someone like him around aggressive players like Kohli/ Pant etc, he was found wanting in the first 2 matches. Perhaps the Aussies had planned for him differently and continuously bowling around that offstump.

He is the reason we did not lose this match in the 1st session. Perfect partner for Pant going gang-ho in the morning 2 hours.
