ShoonyaSifar Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Desperate times, desperate measures. Sundar looked far more at ease against the spinners, has shown great temperament everytime he has batted under pressure, looking rock-solid in his defence. Kohli OTOH has been in an iffy form and keeps finding ways to get out. Should Sundar be batting at 4 ahead of Kohli and Rahane? Adds in a LHB forcing bowlers to change their lines repeatedly. We saw Aussies had an issue dealing with a left-right combo. Why not try it again? Or is it too early to have such confidence in Sunday's batting ability? Will Kohli she'd his ego and do the right thing?
Serpico Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Sundar should open with Gill tbh. He has no problem against pacers or new ball. Allows us to pick another bowler, could get kuldeep or siraj in Ravi_Shastri, Banton and helperononline 3
Serpico Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 But yeah for next innings, Sundar and Pant should be promoted ahead of Kohli and Rahane.
urbestfriend Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 No...Sundar has the potential to become a proper test bat. But it is too early to change his position and asked to go at the top. If he keeps scoring decent runs , he'll be eventually moved up. ( like smith who started at 8)
nevada Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 He can do a decent job even as an opener. But his chances of batting any higher than he has in the first innings seem non existent ATM. It's too much of a blow to Kohli's ego to give him the #4 spot.

Majestic Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Rohit Gill Pujara Kohli Pant Sundar Ashwin Rahane Shahbaz Ishant Bumrah This.
Lone Wolf Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Sundar would add immense value as an opener. Plays pace & spin well. Good defence & technique & a left hander as well. He can do wonders for us in England. We got to invest in him.

urbestfriend Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 BTW he wants to open for India. https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/ravi-shastri-tells-us-inspiring-stories-would-love-to-open-in-tests-like-him-washington-sundar-after-india-vs-australia-series-101611484612386.html
Majestic Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) India should try Devdutt Paddikal at the top order. Keep Sundar as backup option for Jadeja at no 7. Sundar can play as batting all-rounder. We have gone with four bowlers in past, there is nothing wrong if we go with four bowlers and Sundar as fifth option who will be there just to give the main bowlers some rest but average 38-40 with the bat like Shakib. Sgattick10 Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Make him an opener, he has good defence and can play attacking shots.. Can't be worse then Rohit express bowling 1

Used to open for India u-19 and has done so occasionally for TN Ranji team as well. Could very well be opening for us very soon if his captain shows confidence.

express bowling Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 We need Sundar at 7 in this test series ... to save us from batting collapses. I am really liking Sundar the batsman. raki05 1

Jay Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Special talent. Kohlis ego will be hurt though. Pant should come at 4. Then lolli. Hahane is whatever just lol. Vc Then Sundar.

Sandeep99 Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Ideally this should be our line up in the second session - Rohit Gill Pujara Pant Sundar Rahane Ashwin followed by tail the above gives us the best chance at drawing or winning QuarantineTormentino 1
