Should Sundar bat at 4 in the 2nd innings?

I would even push Ashwin above Rahane..

Rahane really can't occupy crease. He doesn't have a good defensive plan. His Melbourne innings was very lucky where he was dropped 3-4 times.

Ideally this should be our line up in the second session -

Rohit

Gill

Pujara

Pant

Sundar

Rahane

Ashwin

followed by tail

the above gives us the best chance at drawing or winning

Winning? With 321 runs behind, too much to cover in 2 days.

Better to be realistic. A draw from here will be a great result for us, still is 80% Eng win, 20% draw

Make him an opener, he has good defence and can play attacking shots.. Can't be worse then Rohit

For that we will need someone with some sort of vision for the team.

Remember we only stumbled onto Sundar the long format player. Him getting a chance to open will similarly depend as much on more such random events going his way.

For India's 2nd innings in this match, Rahane and Rohit must swap batting positions.  Let AMR get a few runs before the spinners come on, and let RGS handle the spinners.

Rahane, Gill, Pujara, Kohli, Sharma, Pant, Ashwin, Sundar, I. Sharma, Nadeem, Bumrah

I think Thakur can also bat ahead of rahane at least.

Thakur's innings at Gabba was almost Viv Richardsque. That  "Dont give a * attitude" was something else, Rahane can't even dream about playing like that with 6 wickets down.

Two innings by Sundar where the main batting line-up had faltered and he has scored 50's. Given the consistency and resilience he has shown in both innings where runs from lower order where need of the hour, it does seems like he is a very good number 7 bat. He is just 21. Well done lad

Good bat but not good bowler for Tests yet. Though he's still very young.

Maybe they could have him be a batting all-rounder. He could bat in the top order and provide another left-hander at the top.

The way he lunges forward to drive over the covers, Amazing shot ! Even his straight sixes over the bowlers' head is one brilliant shot. Dont know about tests but he should definitely be tried in ODIs at 4.

Talking as though RGS is some ATG against spin, hint of turn and he will be out swiping.
