With pitch getting worse and turning more maximum england could score in 2nd innings is 180. So india just need 100 more runs in this innings. I m sure India can chase down 100 batting last.

India will score 300 eng will be all out for 120

These are the best available umpires in India. No one wants this job. If you sack this guy, who will replace him. This is a high pressure, low benefit thankless job.

I would not believe so. We have 120+ empanelled umpires with BCCI. These guys cannot be the best of the lot.

Perhaps bigger issue is how umpires are being identified and groomed. The National Academy of Umpires at Nagpur needs to revamped with professionals made in charge. Currently the system is biased and focusses a lot on rote learning (theory and viva). Unless you are well connected to your state Association, difficult to even pass the exam to start officiating in local matches.

They named stadum after Modi . baap ka maal hai kya.

At least in USA they have the decency to wait until politicians are dead before naming things of significance after them. There are some rare exceptions of course.

fair point. We have put ourselves  in this situation. Now if Gill is dropped it will be unfair on him after 2 failures. It might kill his confidence.

Shaw already seems mentally done.

This TM selections seem to be on instinct than a proper plan. It worked out in Australia though but it is not sustainable.

AUS tour team changes were perfect. No one was complaining when TM dropped Prithvi, Mayank and Saha.

Got old and declined together. All will need replacing in the next couple of years.

Will invariably need to be pushed out as wont go gracefully.

:) yes and btw Dravid had an average of 42 opening the batting with 4 centuries. 3rd best in terms of average after Gavaskar and Sehwag ( Rohit still playing so his avg i have not considered). Also Dhawan had a 40 plus average with 2300 test runs

That rule is for runout only not for stumping. Check mcc

It actually applies to stumping as well.

Here’s what the stumping rule is (partial)

https://www.lords.org/mcc/the-laws-of-cricket/stumped

39.1.1 The striker is out Stumped, except as in 39.3, if

a ball which is delivered is not called No ball

and  he/she is out of his/her ground, other than as in 39.3.1

So the question is what is “out of his/her ground”. Conveniently, the laws define that exact phrase.

https://www.lords.org/mcc/the-laws-of-cricket/batsman-out-of-his-her-ground

30.1 When out of his/her ground

30.1.1 A batsman shall be considered to be out of his/her ground unless some part of his/her person or bat is grounded behind the popping crease at that end.

30.1.2 However, a batsman shall not be considered to be out of his/her ground if, in running or diving towards his/her ground and beyond, and having grounded some part of his/her person or bat beyond the popping crease, there is subsequent loss of contact between the ground and any part of his/her person or bat, or between the bat and person.

There’s nothing about it not applying to stumpings.

Also, here’s a cricinfo explainer that explicitly says it applies to stumpings as well.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/the-new-cricket-rule-changes-coming-into-effect-from-september-28-1122000

If a batsman grounds his/her bat or part of his/her body behind the crease while regaining his/her ground before the stumps are broken, and then if he/she inadvertently loses contact with the bat, or if the grounded part of his/her body becomes airborne - while running or diving - when the stumps are broken, he/she shall not be run out or stumped.

They didnt name it Obama care, the republicans did to mock democrats. The true name was always ACA (Affordable Cares Act)

Many things are named after obama like Barack Obama Presidential Expressway I-55 there are multiple roads even schools like that.

Murali Vijay is completely forgotten in this openers discussions, isn't he?

I think Murali Vijay has moved on. Even he will be surprised if he knows someone even considered this.

Problem is that all 3 players are  literally immovable objects from Indian XI.

it wouldnt surprise me if Gill is dropped for the next match. He shouldnt but I think he will for Mayank.

Initiy I thought it will last the distance but it showed it's true character in the last session.

It will last the distance.  This match will be over by day 3.
