Playing in PSL is more rewarding than IPL: Dale Steyn

Then why did he not play in PSL during his peak years? LOL.

At the age of 40 when he knows he is washed out and wont get a chance in IPL, he is praising PSL for money.

Rabada/Cummins/Hazelwood would do the same in 10 years time.

Given a choice, even likes of Shaheen Afridi and Mohammed Amir would play in IPL over PSL.

He was asked a question while playing in Pakistan.

What do you expect him to say? IPL is much better? I am sure his current franchise would be over the moon with that, Might face a threat to his life.

He doesnt need to say IPL is better, but he doesnt also need to say unprofessional stuff like, cricket takes a backseat in IPL

India is a giant in cricket who doesn't care about what others say.

Waise bhi, who watches leagues like PSL, LPL, IPL, CPL, KLPD everyday? It's an overkill and will make you hate the game instead of enjoying it.

Lol with this Steyn has secured his spot in PeeSL for at least next 5 years.  He knows nobody is gonna buy him in IPl auctions so this is a Ninja Technique to earn more in PSL.  Just goras being goras:pepsi:

Psl is so much like the MLS in so many ways. :))

A place where over the hill players who aren't good enough to play at the highest level go to earn some easy bucks before calling it quits. And then desperately try upping the substandard leagues to feel a bit vindicated.. spacer.png

I feel Steyn was paid to say this.

He could have praised PSL and did not need to bring IPL in the discussion. League cricket is for making money, real cricket is always test matches, so the talk of PSL being more about real cricket and IPL about money seems forced.

Saying this after turning up for IPL season after season and having made well over 50 cr (~$ 7 mil) through IPL salary!

Good for him that he sees a future for himself in PSL and at LPL. Can keep playing for the next 4-5 years now, get awarded nishan-e-Pakistan like Sammy and then become a coach

International players make big money from IPL so they will not make any negative comments about IPL until they have made enough money.Once they have made enough money they can play for other leagues for a bit of money and enjoyment.

In the initial years of IPL (after 1st or 2nd IPL), Steyn had also said he was at IPL just to have fun and make some money. Maybe that is how he always saw IPL as and never felt connected.

I watched couple of overs of PSL. I don't remember the bowler but he celebrated a wicket by dusting off his shoulder. I thought that was a weird celebration. When the commentator said something like "head and shoulders celebration", I realized that player was doing kind of product placement. Explains why it felt awkward and forced.

At least, on the field, the players should he spared from these shenanigans. So much for PSL being all about cricket. [emoji28]

Poor choice of words by Dale. IPL franchises are more ruthless than even international teams when it comes to selection.

All they care about is current form and don't give a * about past legacy. In a way they care more about 'cricket' than most International teams.
