For me dropping Chelas of VK - Dhawan & Uzi from 18 itself gives a vibe about it. They could have very well kept them in 18. In that case VK would have included them XI and chahar never gets picked up. Now he has to pick charar or Ash . Edited September 10, 2021 by prudent_kreeda Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
Ek baar fir se Although wont say that it wud be a blunder not to take him but Take him do take him Experience PP spinner And we were looking for someone who can bat among bowlers , clearly he is putting a case Forward long grounds is always a plus for a spinner Link to comment

He has the highest number of sixes for a non-Aussie at the MCG and SCG combined in the history. RIchards played double the matches still less than Rohit sharma. Link to comment

Lord
will easily select him in squad but in XI only on spin friendly grounds else Thakur/Chahar at 7. Dont need 2nd spinner in Aus mostly. vvvslaxman and nevada 1 1 Link to comment

But if at all they want an offie just because opposition has a lot of lefties he would be the only choice. This is not bilateral series vs Australia. THey don't have to pick the same side against all sides. They should analyze matchups and pick the side. Between Jaddu and Ashwin, Ashwin is a better choice given his ability to bowl anywhere. As a batsmsn Jaddu might be a better bat. But mostly useless batting. Link to comment
Texan
11 wickets in 14 games at average over 36. He hasn't managed a sub-25 average in IPL in any of the last 6 seasons played in India/UAE. You guys think he can get wickets in Australia? Link to comment

Dont need 2nd spinner in Aus mostly. Exactly. One spinner maximum. One. Not 2. Just one. Singular. Hope our dumb management understand that. In sena we need only one spinner in all formats. We picked ash and jaddu for the WTC final on a green pitch. Lmao. Link to comment
Vijy
pick sundar and look toward the future, instead of hearkening back to ashwin. the glass man (sundar) is india's future, although he is perpetually injured Majestic 1 Link to comment
bowl_out
Once RR ditch him, CSK will pick up and make him captain after Dhoni.. Ashwin just turned 35, so he will be eligible to CSK selection Stan AF 1 Link to comment

In the first 3 seasons his average was under 25. In 2015 he averaged 22. Oflate he has not been a wicket taker. Having said that ER plays a much bigger role in T20. Only very few players have maintained an ER under 7 for a long period. Ashwin has maintained it under 7 for 13 years. Narine has maintained it under 7 for 10 years. Rashid khan has maintained it under 7 for 5 years. Nobody has such an ER for that long. Having said that he has no role as a matter of fact No off spinner has any role in T20 unless his main skill is batting. Link to comment

Majestic
Selecting mediocre players is not a solution. Not selecting mediocre players is not a blunder. Going back to Ashwin means going back to mediocrity. Now obviously, this doesn't mean that Jadeja, Axar, Sundar are any better than mediocrity either. All these guys are defensive options and non reliable. Always look for wicket taking options unless the said name is a proper death over bowler like Bumrah or Harshal. The only solution is play Deepak Chahar at 7, give a call to BCCI and ask to use Jadeja only as 12th man for fielding job and go with four pacers + Yuzi. On some wickets, you can go with Ashwin or Kuldeep but take only one of them to Australia as Yuzi being a leg spinner is always an advantage in t20s. My options at the moment would be :- 1.Bumrah( death overs) 2.Harshal( death overs) 3.D Chahar( new bowl wicket taker) 4.Shami(new bowl wicket taker) 5.Umran Malik( middle overs wicket taker) 6.Mohsin( new bowl wicket taker ) For others like Siraj, Prasidh, Khaleel it will depend on their form as well as other players form. Arshdeep can only be picked if there is no Bumrah or Harshal. Spinners option: 1. Yuzi 2. Ashwin/Kuldeep Link to comment
