Did the penny finally drop for Kohli?

Recommended Posts

  • Samson did that in Aus and found himself dropped due to low scores
  • Dhawan n iyer are still in squad
  • Kohli starts with right plan until he looses 1-2 games and panic. Remember he went for KL in middle in ODI before 2019 Wc 2-3 times but gave up in 1-3 every time. Now KL has owned middle order spot . U need to be stubborn like ganguly or dhoni with ur ideas

Let's hope so ... Ind's top order in LOI tends to be among the most stats focused and boring to watch

It is mostly Dhawan that drags the top order down

Kohli confirmed that Rahul will open with Rohit tomorrow, so both openers striking 140+ is not bad

You posted the overall stats, which accounts for arriving at a respectable SR after playing relatively slowly initially (which is what is being discussed):

View overall figures

Rohit for e.g. got dismissed for 20 or less in 31 out of 51 innings (based on your timeline since 2016), going at less than run a ball ... Therefore on avg, the PP is underutilized by him 60% of the time. Dhawan's SR is even less but he did that in 20 of 43 innings, so 46% (therefore, making it up for slow starts more times than Rohit) ... However, if a high SR batsman is allowed to play similarly slowly initially, his SR after 20 runs could be even higher than these guys

Yup. And follows same tired formula of bat slowly, keep wickets in hand and try to score big at death irrespective of pitch or match situation.

Been a proven failure as lack of trophies illustrates.

captain saab needs to let his bat do the talking. just 1-2 losses, and we will go back to tuk-tuking. I wonder if our top order took secret lessons from misbah.

Didnt even wait for the losses.

Kohli's strategy:

1.Pick the senior most players in the XI

2.Pick his closest friends in the XI

3.Hope the team that is made up of the above succeeds

4.If not pass of some cliches as to why they failed.

5.If they keep failing throw some youngsters into the deep end

6.Hope youngsters fail

7.Repeat from Step 1

yep. so predictable and so disappointing. dhawan should be playing int'l cricket. he's good but we need to look beyond him. and rohit's a borderline case himself. obviously has fantastic record, but we should be prepping for future.
