I6MTW Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Major upset. Switzerland defeat France in penalties(5-4). What a topsy-turvy match. Swiss led 1-0 and missed a penalty chance to take if to 2-0. Then France suddenly started playing the quality football it's known for, and struck 3 goals in 15 minutes to go 3-1. Then Switzerland scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to level the match, and survive extra time.

Belgium is simply the better team even though they've underperformed at major tournaments, they have the squad to be world champions. One of the best squads in the world. Plus, Portugal's over reliance on Ronaldo was gonna last only for some time. They lucked out in 2016. The field and competition is stronger now, and Ronaldo is older. France I agree, though I called the upset a few days ago. Switzerland are a decent side and sort of a dark horse. France hasn't been that impressive during the group stages. Drew against Hungary and Portugal, and would've drawn against Germany if not for the OG. They nearly came out of the group stage without a win.

Insufferable as they have never beaten Germany in a knockout match- and also to do with the fact that England haven't won the Euros at all and their last WC win came in 1966- so little results like this make the population go crazy due to general low expectations of the national team. The Ukraine match wont be as hard as the Germany team so higher chance of them winning that and reaching Semis.. now two Semi finals in 3 years. english fans are allowed to gloat a little ;) Jimmy Cliff 1
