Thakur for wtc final

Recommended Posts

We must play Jadeja and Ashwin together. EOD

One of the main reasons why Kiwi batters are looking so comfortable out there was due to the absence of a spinner in England's attack. Jadeja and Ashwin in tandem are not an easy proposition on any wicket esp on days 4 and day5. We saw that at the MCG...

More than that they're our two best bowlers! Even if we count the overall pacer performances across last 5 years, especially overseas, Jadeja & Ashwin still come out on top. Yes playing at home does help, but then when you add their batting none of Bumrah, Ishant, Shami can be picked above them. Basically they're good enough as (regular) bowlers for me, unless it's a really green track like Lords 2018, now with the added advantage of batting & fielding (for Jadeja) they're nearly indispensable.

Thakur deserved to play in a couple of home tests vs England. We would have known more about his capabilities as a Test player. But the senior first approach of our kaptaanji kept him out as he preferred to play Ishant in all 4 tests.

Now Thakur has got no chance. And perhaps may not even get to play a test barring multiple injuries in the team. 7 wickets and a match winning 67 at Gabba and no further opportunities to play tests even outside Asia. Not justified at all.

Wow, some geniuses wanted Shardul Thakur to play in India on spinning tracks and that too in a series where we were down by one match. Hats off

:hysterical:

Friggin' genius.

Matlab green track hai to sahi hai, even bouncy track par chalega but spinning track par thakur.. Seriously? And that too in a series where we were fighting for wtc final spot.

Thakur looks like a clutch player

can take wickets , bowls hard and smart and bats well

to defeat New Zealand we will need such clutch players with all round abilities

pant, jadeja and thakur fit the roster

in bowling you again need clutch bowlers - getting wickets when chips are down

ishant , bumrah and Shami/ siraj are those ones

The choice has to be between playing ashwin or Shami/siraj .

a combo of ishant bumrah ashwin/Shami with thakur jadeja and pant as all rounders is a winner combo if we get a good start .

i would ensure that thakur , jadeja , ishant , bumrah and Shami/ ashwin is my combo based on pitch . If really dry too , I feel Shami is the choice over ashwin in uk cos he can reverse

How do they come on top overseas? Two spinners are overkill untill it is a dry pitch. Even if it is not green, you still need extra seamer. Because conditions in England aren't just about the pitch but what's overhead.

most wanted him for pink ball test and nothing wrong with it

As per Kohli chamchas, a new player who has done well in his last test should not even be picked in the squad for the next series, despite knowing that the said player, if groomed properly, could play the key role of a bowling all rounder in series outside Asia.

But then cannot expect logic from them.

No matter how much you discuss about team combinations, weak player or strong player based on conditions, but truth is we have a clown who walks into the team with uber pathetic record as leader specially in ICC trophies and overseas will lead us with his huge ego and false perception about eying perfect xi, currently that clown should be last person to think of making that list of top xi taking field against NZ on 18 June

He should be seriously considered for Eng tests especially the 1st test in Trent bridge which is quite seam friendly these days.

NZ should be choked with spin imo.  Their players play late & may handle Thakur better than say Ashwin.  Quality spin should trouble them & Ashwin is usually good in 1st few tests overseas.

I was looking at the stats for the WTC. Kohli DOES NOT make the WTC team of the tournament unless he can turn it around in the finals.

Among our batsmen, he is behind Rohit, Pant, Rahane and even Pujara (has played more clutch knocks). If Sundar had got more chances, even he would be ahead of Kohli. His stats are boosted by a 250 not out vs a below par SA and a 100 vs BD. Thats how poor he has been.

Ashwin has 2 MOTS against NZ, a match-up headache for Latham and Williamson. And they may play 5 LHBs...this Conway guy looks impressive as well.

So unless it is a green top tough to choose Thakur over him. If you play Shami instead of him what happens to our already useless tail?

The way I see it Bumrah, Ishant, Siraj, Jaddu MUST play. Ashwin vs Thakur vs Shami for last spot....Shami least preferred candidate. Who would Kiwis prefer to face...Ashwin or Thakur? They may be used to Thakur type bowlers but a quality offie like Ashwin, I doubt.

Sundar gives me more assurance than most of our specialist bats. Hope he gets to play a couple of tests in England.

Of course. The courage he showed in Australia should have seen him get some more chances. But the preference for seniors means a longer wait for him now.
