In Kohliland, there would be a 3-yr cycle.  After 2 years, pick the 2 finalists A&B.  Then 3rd year, do this between A&B

 

Jan:  4-match series in Australia (1 on each type of pitch)

Feb:  3-match series in NZ (swinging pitches)
Mar: 3-match series in Caribbean (fast pitches)

Apr-May:  Break for IPL

June:  4-match series in England.  Rain and clouds and everything - test of mental toughness.

July-Aug:  5-match series in India.  From Dharamsala to Chennai, in increasing order of dustbowlness

Sep-Oct:  Rest

Nov:  3-match series in Pakistan - just to see how the teams cope with danger for 60 days.

Dec:  1 match in an Artic glacier - just to make sure the winning team can also win here.

Dec 31:  Trophy presentation in ICC HQ (wherever the hell that is).

 

In the absence of this cycle, a 1-match WTC final is as good as it gets.  Just get the venue right.

Kohli's international career will finish in a worse manner than Dhoni, who ran away in the middle of an Australian tour a month before a WC. He at least got to drag his career for a few years. Clown will get no such opportunity. Will be thrown out of captaincy and from the team. May take sometime but this will eventually happen.

Is that surprising though. Has been the case for years now. Another gift from Dhoni era.

 

Waiting to see puff pieces saying Kohli  suddenly wants to play the LOI series in SL. Expect some PR soon. Anything to deflect attention from his idiocy and surrender

Not technical.  Needed to bat bravely.  

 

Abbe yaar ... don't you decide these things before?  As part of team strategy?  And persuade the guys to play accordingly?  Or do we just come up with this tripe on the fly after the fact?

"NOT TOO BOTHERED BY RESULT" yeah were fans were dumb watching and supporting you guys for 6 days with rain, weather delays. We were supporting team team since 2 years to qualify for finals but according to captain results don't bother him, it's just another match, we need 3 match series to decide best team. At least give respect to nz who have won their first trophy after such long time. He is devaluing trophy now since we have lost. Just accept the loss and move on.

thats how tournaments go

League phase comprised of minimum 2 match series not on off tests. Finale can also be of same format.

It's not cast in stone that tournaments/events have to finish in a single knockout

This is very bad precedent set by Indian cricket admins/rulers by bestowing so much of power to one individual who makes mockery of Indian cricket

Next incoming captain will be no different,time to change the working culture alongwith the present Kaptaan

After 2021 WT20/2023 WC, Kohli be like:

 

"Not too bothered about the loss, WC happens once in a few years, Ghanta farak padta, who we are as a team. Final should be a series of 7 matches like NBA/MLB/NHL, Super Bowl is all gimmickry"

WC is a tournament. WTC isn't a tournament. WTC is a result of test series' played overtime.

WC games aren't played over two years, neither we played 5 match odi series to play WC semifinal. If matches prior to the final are played as series' of 2, 3, 5 tests then why final is just one test. It should have been a series too. Playing and winning all those 4-5 tests series proved pointless if result in the end was decided by just one test.

 

Beauty of test cricket is lost when winner is decided based on one test. Why should we play 5 tests series against England if winner in the end is going to be decided by one test. 

 

A test series gives the opportunity to come back like it happened in last two series we played.

Rankings were already there for a Looong time and as it was not working anymore for Tests they have started the WTC.

 

Regardless of WC or WTC, the key to a finale is about how you handle the pressure and execute your skills. One could keep arguing that a 3 match series will not suffice it should be 5 matches, and another could say SENA conditions are not suitable for Asian teams so it should be played as home and away tests in a 4 test format. Another argument will be that why only Top 2 teams should play, let the Top 4 teams play as a Play-off in IPL style and it can go on....

 

End of the day, with whatever has been known as the WTC format for the last few years the Teams should be prepared and give it their all and not undermine the WTC NZ's performance. That is just sore loser mentality. Also, NZ are right now No.1 in Test Rankings as well....
