US finishes at top. A close fight between USA and China throughout the tournament, Japan taking the top spot for a few days as well.

I believe the takeaway is following

7G 7S 7B = 21 medals get you in top 12  both gold wise as well as by total medals

10G 10S 10B = 30 medals get you in top 10  both gold wise as well as by total medals

BC New Zealand has 20 medals? What on earth is wrong with them? Why do they over achieve in every fukkin thing they do? :hitler:

Rowing, canoeing, sailing...rich sports.

Why can't we have traditional Indian sports like kabaddi, mallakhamba and kushti (on mud) then?

Only in this Olympics so much is needed. It's because there was a gold rush, with a lot of countries suddenly winning gold medals. Also since North Korea didn't participate, a lot of the events were open. Normally, our tally of 7 medals and one gold, would be enough to be around the 30s, but this time we were ranked 48. A gold rush happened for a lot of smaller countries, and even the bigger ones as well.

Normally, 10-12 medals are enough for a top 7 finish. This time since there was a gold rush, 10 medals is barely enough to be in top 10. USA had 46 gold medals last time. This time only 39. The second best country last time was GBR with 27, but this time second best had 38, and third best with 27. So more gold medals won by smaller countries upset the balance.

If we host, we can push for inclusion. The host country always has a case for inclusion of their country's traditional sports.

WTF are you talking about? You can go f*** yourself for all I care. Don't need any validation from you.

Its not validation, its the truth. Every single place and forum in india is celebrating today. Go to anyplace, hindus or muslims, left or right, liberals or conservstive, online or offline, every single place has forgotten the differences at least for next couple of days and is proud of and celebrating Neeraj

So if at this point anyone is ignoring all that and still quoting some random Twitter troll just to spread hate thats pathetic

You mean 10-12 golds right? This time 11 golds would have gotten rank 7.

Yes. Last time 10 golds wete enough to be within top 7. 27 golds enough for 2nd rank.

pakistan will always find it tough to medal due to the horrible conservative nature of the country.

50% of the medals are women's medals and that's out of their grasp. i mean their badminton players, runners, hockey players play in full pants lol.

and main issue is their country is poor. like their per capita income and hdi is where india was in 2007-08ish and they are growing way slowly then we did then. they struggle to medal in cwg and asian games.

Dude Afghanistan have 2 medals

They are poorer and more conservative.

Australia/New Zealand/UK get all their medals from water sports. None of them achieved an athletics gold, something which we did, with such a lower per capita income.

Thing is to invest now in the stuff we are good at and make them guaranteed golds.

Getting into water spots will take 20+ years. China has started to do it cause they have money now. We will hit Current China numbers (HDI/GDP per capita/GDP etc) only somewhere around early 2040s.
