Tokyo 2020 Paralympics: Record 19 medals thus far!!!! Amazing

Can't even begin to describe just how proud I am of Mirabai.

To life a weight that is MORE THAN 2X your bodyweight above your head, that is truly phenomenal stuff.

India don't have the pedigree that Iran or the Central Asian nations have in Olympic lifting. To still produce an champion like Mirabai, :hatsoff:

If you watch her technique from a side on perspective, you'll see the bar moves up in a perfectly straight path - That is the shortest distance from A to B. To do that, it takes enormous skill. Overcome the niggles, wobbles, irregularities in the body where one side is stronger/weaker than the other.

Have to laugh at India 1.3 billion people and even a small country like Australia with 25 million people smashes it on the world stage, forget Australia even NZ does well on the world stage.

Anytime someone correlates population with success we know they have very few brain cells.

What about those African countries then some of those countries are worse than India? They still do well on the world stage, we Indians are too keen on making excuses for everything.

Nice contributions to the thread, so much enlightenment for us plebeians.

Keep going buddy :two_thumbs_up:

What happened in shooting today?

Most unlucky was Abhishek. He shd have qualified. Messed up last two shots. He was 5th in qualifying till last 3 shots. Saurabh on other hand had given it all in qualifying coming first.. he faltered in finals.

Apurvi is absolutely rubbish. She came 30 in qualifying. She anyways are way past her best when she was no 1 in 2019. In Croatia and Delhi wc she didnt even make 625. So I had zero hopes from her. Resting on past laurels ..

Was heart breaking, saurav came first in qualifiers with amazing score of 587. Choked completely in finals with just 157 and came 7th

157 is not just. You dont shoot your full quota. You get eliminated in each round. So the person who was 8th would have shot only 1 round ane might have got 90 odd. So its like every round one gets eliminated..and his score is just for that round.

Ind-NZ review

Happy that we beat our bogey side after going 0-1 down so early (them and Malaysians are inferior yet make us suffer, hence bogey)

Sreejesh superb (MOTM), defence was clutch

Rubbish camera footage for referrals, will eventually lead to something controversial in a big game

Liked the fitness on a hot, humid day...maintained good pace throughout

Ball trapping must improve (aerially ok, fine)..maybe rust/nerves

Lost structure in 4th Q

Good job by drag flickers

Wingers unable to penetrate via angles (as in running), won't score too many field goals..can't believe they didn't pick SV Sunil in the squad

Forward line was shockingly bad, inexperience clearly showing, so many counterattacks leading to 2 on 2s, 1 on 1s fizzled out.  What's the use of circle penetrations with such forwards? Already missing Akashdeep Singh, a bit selfish but an opportunistic scorer, also gets crazy deflections.

Any idea why Akashdeep and Sunil were not selected?

I hope all the medal winners are rewarded handsomely and be taken care of in thier lives.

Have heard stories in past of medal winners struggling to make ends meet. That won't motivate anyone to take up sport.

We focus too much on cricket even at govt level.

most of them are govt employees if i'm not wrong who get security but can't get extra money from endorsements etc. Someone who is a part of the Indian badminton contingent i know of works for Air india.

No clear cut clarification. Maybe fitness related? Preference of youth over experience? Akashdeep can sometimes play selfishly, so maybe that....

India just needs to draw one match and win another to book place in quarter finals. Indias group is tougher with Aus Argentina Spain..

No man, the other group is tougher, their best 4 easily outranks our best 4 and that is most important, look at present form, FIH league standings. We must try to finish in top 2, avoid Belgium/Netherlands in QF at all costs. Even Germany will be super tough, Great Britain is the easiest possible opponent.

A team like Arg can go on a hot run and win even gold, but stylistically the other group's teams pose bigger challenge to Team India.
