Panchal is an opener and we already have Easwaran. The TM is looking for middle order replacement.

Panchal can bat anywhere, he has for india A.

Shankar is a batting all rounder who has one of most sound technique. 

Everyone will have some bad season, i dnt think even easwaran came from a good season.

 

Jayant also has been selected as al rounder, his bowling wasnt good enough even in indian condition. Shankar bowling is meant for eng conditions

No sundar and thakur were always good. You could tell they were talented. Thakur has a good first class record and is experienced. 

.sundar was an exceptional talent.

Not really, Thakur had an okayish FC record and you’re right that Sundar was an exceptional talent, but he had played very few FC matches prior to the series, luckily for us he took to test cricket like a duck to water

What is the use of taking such a big baraat if they can't handle 2-3 injuries? 

 

No wonder players don't perform out of their skin for this Rat .He has no value for anyone . 

 

If Rat is injured, then he should be sent back. If he won't play , then he should not be allowed to meddle .

SKY : Here it becomes interesting. The middle order is made of 5 players Pujara Kohli Rahane Rahul Hanuma. Out of this Rahul was once upon a time opener so basically 4 proper middle order batsman. So now you cast your net and go to FC and who do you find: just nobody who is breaking the door.. so we check 2019 Ranji statistics and here you get the following top 4 scorers..

 

1. Sarfraz Khan

2. Punit Bisht ( kohlis close friend u19 wc winner playing in plate)

3. Anushtup Majumdar ( old now was a good bengal batsman)

4. Arpit Vasvada

All plate stuff. So the only one coming out who is there in both years is S Khan but issue is he is person non grata with his fitness. 
 

So what options do TM have? The safest option. Go by guts and by performance in LOI format and this is where Sky comes in as he looked good in all matched he played. Plus he became the MOS in the odis and looked assured. Thus he got the call..

 

Sarfaraj is much fitter now, is one of the best batting talent in the country.

I was hoping and praying that serendipity has a say and one of or both Bhuvi and Chahar will be sent to England. Not to be. tour hasn't even begun and the squad appears to be depleting, our teams picked by the end of the tour will be very interesting.

Jayant looks like backup for ashwin just like axar is backup for jadeja. One of bhuvi/chahar must have been sent to england. I am not saying to play 3 or 4 tests but even 1 or 2 would have been handy.

Problem is their fitness. Can they handle bowling at intensity for 30 overs in tests.

I don't think selectors rate Ranji numbers that high & rightly so...  Surya's selection might be one of the genius moves of all time or blunder only time will tell.  I'd have liked if he played T20s first.  TM wants stroke makers..  So Idk what kinda pitches they are expecting.

Same goes for Shaw. 

 

J Yadav is a okayish selection...  Can bat.  Obviously back up player.

One thing I will give kohli credit for is his ability to accept losses. He doesn't make excuses about pitches.

His influence in terms of fitness is wildly overrated. IPL helped change Indian's fitness culture not kohli. 

 

The bowlers have been getting consistently better post 2000. The trend is moving in upwards trajectory. We have world class bowlers now due to our system. Kohli did f all. If anything he is trying to ruin our system. Fast bowling captain my butt lol. How many youngsters have debuted under him unless they sucked up to him? Even siraj was lucky to get a chance due to an injury crisis. Look at his FIRST CLASS AND A team records. It's phenomenal. He deserved his chance via merit alone. He wouldn't have got that opportunity if it weren't for shamis injury unfortunately. Kuli is undoubtedly one of the worst captains in the world at the moment.

Winning 1 test would be an achievement..  If we win 2 it would be nothing short of a miracle. 

I think England batting is as weak as ours..  But I have serious issues regarding our bowling.  Don't think they can outbowl their English counterparts barring Siraj maybe.

exactly//if ashwin is unfit and they dont want to play jaddu then Jayant yadav may be played.

Deepak chahar, VIjay Shankar, Dubey are three similiar type players and suit to go for england tests.....Deepak chahar seems to be a better bowler out of the three , though the other two may be better batsman than Deepak.

 

But Why not Deepak CHAHAR specially after a match wining 69...???
