Ankit_sharma03
Pujara - Woefully out of form, but if their is one thing he can do in poor form its playing out deliveries Vihari- He did open in Australia n did the job off seieng off new ball KL- He has been an opener but TM is considering him now a middle order batsman Easwaran- Someone whom TM doesnt look impressed at all Who will be your choice ? Ankit_sharma03
Opening in england is pretty much the toughest job and the guy at other end doesnt have great reliability in these conditions either. So this has to be a very well thought out call Link to comment
Lone Wolf
KL is my #1 choice in middle order. With how things are going dude will be pushed to no 3 most likely. Ideal position for him is no 5. Pujara looks like the guy who'll open. Probably his final chance in England. Link to comment
Prabhdeep Singh
'Go for the jugular' The opposition will fear KL Rahul more than C Pujara, A Eashwaran or H Vihari opening. With KL Rahul opening there will be less disruption with rest of order. Also his last test innings in England opening was 149. R Sharma KL Rahul C Pujara V Kohli A Rahane R Pant R Jadeja R Ashwin I Sharma M Shami M Siraj Edited August 2, 2021 by Prabhdeep Singh Link to comment
cricketfan28
Pujara , if he gets into the groove it will work for the rest of the series. Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Ideally push Pujara to open, have Rahane at 3 (as Kohli will not move from his no. 4), pick KL Rahul for no. 5 (pick him while he is in form) saik 1 Link to comment

Kohli if he wants to win has to come in at 3 or even send KLR at 3. KLR can play the counter attacking kind of innings same with rat but Rahane will just edge to gully and walk off. Link to comment
Serpico
Jadeja at no. 3 will give some left right combo in top order. won't have to bat with the tail. can pick thakur as allrounder Cricspin, kirkutfan and CodeOfWisden 1 2 Link to comment
Dery
Eshwaran. Instead of messing with batting order just have a proper opener Link to comment
bowl_out
Pujara. Blunt the new ball. That's the only thing he can do these days. At least use it at a time when we need that, and have KL bat at 3 or 5 Link to comment

In fact we need someone who can score in first 10-15 overs as Duke balks only start swinging after that Link to comment
QuarantineTormentino
Lol apparently Rahane has said that India does not plan to move Pujara away from the no 3. Position... so possible one of Rahul/Vihari may open considering Easwaran is yet to make his debut Edited August 3, 2021 by QuarantineTormentino Link to comment

The likes of Geoffrey Boycott and Gatting executed the exact same strategy and scored heaps of runs in england. You have to blunt the new ball in England can't score well without doing that and yes scoring becomes easier as the games goes on. It's not just about the condition of the ball it's also about the confidence level of the batsman. After playing 100 balls you definitely are much more assured but yes Pujji these days looks the same even after facing 200 balls lol but that doesn't mean that you discard the whole batting style. Many have scored thousands of runs in England using the same strategy Link to comment
Nikola
Team management will surely pick KL Rahul. Idk what they will do if mayank gets fit for 2nd test and rahul has decent test match. Will they swap his position again in middle order? Link to comment
Majestic
I will go with Vihari. Want to see Rahul back in M.O. Link to comment
