Rate Bradman's technique

IMO evaluating Bradman against current standards is somewhat like saying that 1930 Nobel Prize winner CV Raman would be at a back foot in today’s academic world because “Physics has become so complicated and so competitive, and research is so niche and so specialised today and so hard and Raman would probably struggle to clear the IIT examination because the competition’s so intense”.

Just look at Bradman’s average, wheel and come again.

True but his average is not possible in current day and age as well. Hopefully people see that way too. People going gaga over his average is bit of overrating.

If today's batsman played in Bradman's era, their technique would be similar to players of that era and vice versa ... As for Bradman, he was technically not the best. Probably like Sehwag in terms of technique but far more effective.

way more effective. he had the scoring rate of a sehwag (one of the quickest scorers in that era), the hand-eye coordination and unorthodox footwork of smith, a reasonable defence (albeit not super-strong like Hobbs/Hutton), and an utter glutton for runs like lara. makes sense why he averaged 100 (99.94 is really 100, and not 99)

The only issue there is cricket being at ameutuer level. Bradman was like a modern day player but his competition was at the level of early india, bangladesh, sri lanka. Most where amateurs who played cricket as hobby or because they had time and money

Let sehwag, ponting, kohli bat only against bangladesh sri lanka etc and they will average 100 too

Uncovered pitches and rudimentary sporting gear including protective equipment make up for the apparent lack of quality opposition

I wonder when people say he was peerless & arguably(?) the best sportsman of all times, do they not know of the guy named Dhyanchand? If you think cricket has changed a lot from back then, then what the * about hockey? If Bradman is peerless then Dhyanchand would be one above all in this MCU

Meh, does it? If only vinay kumars and amres were bowling on those uncovered wickets would they make a huge difference?

Also i think there is evidence which shows short ball batting has declined because of protective equipment, earlier players used to play short ball better without helmets

I recall that there was a cross-game statistical analysis which put Bradman at 1 and chand at 2. Both were the GOATs in their profession.
