If India don't collapse on their own, how long would they want to bat here ?

Just a hypothetical question for now. While its most likely that India would get All Out , however since the pitch is flat and only new ball assists the bowlers so if a couple of Indian Batsmen do get set then how long do you expect India to bat before they declare ?

What would be the maximum target that India would like to set here and the number of overs/sessions they would spare for their bowlers to take 10 England wickets on this pitch ?

There's a very slim possibility of this happening but it can't be ruled out 100%.

as you wrote, it's a very slim possibility. It won't happen. But if it did, a target of 350-370 is enough IMO.

Around 100-110 overs to bowl in 4th innings gives enough time for a late push with the second new ball. Kohli/Shastri don't do risky sporting declarations, so they will target atleast 370 to put the game out of England's reach. For this scenario to materialize, MO needs to make another 200 runs in 70 overs tomorrow.

rahane doesn't need to do anything so trivial as redeeming himself. he is too important to let small things like that bother him

Can't say how he will do if he walks in when we are already in safe zone, but if situation becomes tricky early morning and his wicket has some price he will definitely fail.

For me India is already in pole position, another 50 runs & Root will go defensive. Batting last on any kind of pitch is not easy, Umesh & Siraj will be main threats for England in 2nd innings.

To answer your question, any additional runs today is gold, India will definitely get bowled out today but England must already be fearful of target they need to get 2nd innings.
