If we lose this match, a proper post-mortem is needed. I would say that the following people would be to blame in that case: (1) Rahane (no explanation needed), (2) Rat [for selection blunders], (3) middle-order batting and (4) bowling attack. Yes, this is a patta, but many teams have managed to win or draw by using scoreboard pressure effectively even on fairly flat tracks.

At least, it was good to see India made 460+ and Thakur, Pant making some runs.

 

Still think likely result will be a draw. If a few wickets fall especially if Root goes, England will shut shop and settle for a draw.

They will win here and then will win or end up in a strong position in a (rain-affected) draw in the last test. 2-1 or 3-1 coming up, lads. great performance as always from Kohli's team. no broad, archer, wood (for part of the series), woakes (for part of the series), and stokes. and yet, a 2-1 or 3-1 in the offing. the good days are back here again.

I don't think archer or wood would be useful in general. but on this pitch one of them would be helpful.

 

Eng missed at least 2-3 key players in any given match. The right players are needed for the right conditions. Broad could do well on some pitches, woakes was missed early in the series, stokes was missed throughout, and either archer/wood would have done better than overton this match.

 

We can agree to disagree if you think Stokes, Woakes, Broad are irrelevant on these pitches. I think they are essential .

What the hell has archer done except one series in his entire career? And when has wood been successful against us?

either of them would have done better on this pitch than overton. and the real duo who were missing was stokes and woakes (first 3 tests). this is not Eng A, but it is definitely missing some really crucial key performers.

Few wickets and england will collapse. Even at worst if england is in good position at tea i doubt they would go for chase. Need to be patient though. Kohli's captaincy will be tested tomorrow.

Let's hope so. if we were to lose, I feel it would be a big setback psychologically as well, and eng will be pumped for the next test (which might be washed out).
