Vk1 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 who should be picked in tests/odis/T20s... Thakur should be the default pick in odis and T20s as Jadeja barely picks wickets in these formats and his figures mostly read 10-0-53-0 / 4-0-30- 0 on most days.. On SENA tests.. recent evidence in Aus and Eng suggests that Thakur can pick crucial wickets and break big partnerships ( unlike Jadeja who gets wickets of tailenders or if batsman throw their bats ).. even on a day 5 wicket, team used him to scuff up the ball and not as a main weapon.. On Batting front.. Thakur >>>>>> Jadeja in shorter formats.. he can hit sixers effortlessly while Jadeja only relies on a specific over pitched delivery to clear the boundary.. and Thakur is already better than Jadeja in last few tests... and the most important factor in shorter formats is the willingness to sacrifice the wicket as per the situation.. Jadeja fails hugely ( by far the most selfish batsman in Indian history ) ofcourse Jadeja fielding/catching >>>>>> Thakur
cricketfan28 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Thakur is very hot right now .so answer will be obvious.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 so never be in a hurry to draw a conclusion about any thing. See it over a period of time When someone fires he looks a world beater until he fails Thakur is a bowling all rounder and let him be one. I knw many have started fantasizing him as full all rounder....well keep the hopes down. Bowling all rounder dnt have a mindset of batsman coz they are bowlers at the end of the day unless they start to change their course towards being a batsman. In test - its better we look for a batting all rounder overseas. In ODI - i like jaddu but only if he bats up the order. Ill never bat thakur in top 7 in an ODI game In t20- never liked jaddu n i have said many times thakur power game is better then Axxar, krunal n jaddu so ill go with him as anyways in 20 overs how many batsman will get a chance to bat ShoonyaSifar and Samcric 2
Ankit_sharma03 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Pat cummins can bat but that doesnt mean aussies will play him in place of a batting all rounder They have still looked around- head, marsh, green ShoonyaSifar and vvvslaxman 1 1
ViruDilSeKhelo Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 i agree except thakur is a rubbish t20 bowler, 9 per over type of guy, he has no role. ODI and tests yes he looks a good package AR but still too early
Vivek92 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 For them to develop as T20 all-rounders, they need to be placed at the right time in IPL, for crying out loud SCurran, Thakur and D Chahar bats at 8, 9 and 10 for CSK, waste of resources.

In India we only have pandya who can qualify for the all rounder tag. So the comparison might not apply for us.

They didnt Marsh was their hope and he has been struggling with injuries They had to play travis head for quite a while Now they found a great talent in Cameron green but he also isnt bowling as much due to his injuries So they have also struggled with all rounders

Shardul I am not sure. Look at his LOI record. Suhaan 1
Majestic Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 In LOIs, it is not Thakur vs Jadeja. 6. Pandya 7. Jadeja 8. Thakur 9. Fast bowler 10. Spinner 11. Bumrah The important point here is that in ODIs, our main spinners end up leaking a lot of runs too. We have seen with Yuzi and Kuldeep going for plenty in last couple of years. Hence, we need a bowling A/R in Jadeja. Also, he has a pedigree now so he will be sticked. In T20s, I don't rate his bowling much. I do rate Axar but Krunal is not international standards for me. He just doesn't have the mentality of that level. Good for IPL but not internationals. express bowling and Cricspin 2
vvvslaxman Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Kohli has decided spinners are a useless commodity overseas. Who knows he might even rest Jaddu if pandya is fully fit and available. It works for him due to many teams (bar NZ) are in rebuilding phase. Australia/England/SA all have vulnerable batting line ups. Overseas spin bowling will be non-existent under Kohli. Bumrah and Siraj are younger. SO they will just need a couple of support bowlers after Shami leaves. Umesh for some time may be. Thakur as an all rounder. Pandya may come back.

He was okay in NZ. But his finishing skills not dependable at all as international teams don't have bowlers like Harshal patel. That is where Thakur will nudge ahead. Thakur CANNOT bowl in death overs. He is utter tripe there.
Gollum Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Thakur ka honeymoon period chal raha hai. Take his success with a pinch of salt. Already 30, and has poor fitness which will make things more difficult. Bowling is so-so and I refuse to buy into the stupid notion that someone with FC batting avg 16 will maintain his 30+ avg in test cricket for more than 10 tests. Lord 1
Gollum Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 (edited) For next 6 months: SENA tests: Thakur>Jaddu. If this TM had any sense they would play Thakur+Ashwin in Manchester and RSA. Home tests: Jaddu guaranteed starter, Thakur's competition is with Axar depending on pitch conditions.....Sundar to play at #5 and not Rahane, his role will be much different since he isn't a test class bowler. T20 WC: Neither, go for Axar. Comfortably better bowler than Thakur/Jaddu/Krunal and not a bad powerhitter. He can be paired with R Chahar and/or Ashwin to cover all bases....offie mainly to counter LHBs and bowl PP overs, attacking wristy, tight SLA. ODIs: Still time before 2023 WC. Jaddu, Thakur both can be given chances and permutations/combinations can be tried out the next 2 years. But also keep Axar in mind, and a couple of other candidates. Who knows, Sundar is just 21 and pretty high ceiling Don't give much importance to ODIs, lot will change by 2023 Oct, new faces will emerge, few will fade out, and our ICC KO performance before home WC will have a big bearing (like captaincy change). We have 2 T20 WCs, few marquee test series (away RSA, home NZ and Aus) and WTC F before that. Edited September 8, 2021 by Gollum Suhaan and Lord 1 1

Even is Australia earlier this year, he was bowling 135 -140 with bounce. Looks like he is carrying some niggle which has affected his workouts. He is basically starting his international career and must not lose fitness now. Edited September 8, 2021 by express bowling Suhaan 1
