When players of the stature of Sachin, Dravid etc failed in one single series, all the front page papers and magazines were full of articles questioning them. Post presentation commentators would question them each time, sachin was asked about his retirement for almost 10 years before he did. There would be scathing articles from ex players, experts, everywhere. All news channels would be full of criticism and questions. Forums would be full of hate

 

Guys like Rahane would be destroyed by media, look at what happened to Kambli, etc

 

today no media or paper or channel dare questions these pampered players. Even forums like reddit are mostly PR who downvote anyone who question these powerful players

 

If you think Kohli gets even 0.0001% of criticism or hate which those legends got, and from mainstream media which went back to them directly, then I will laugh at you

Prove what? The front page headlines saying - elephant in the room? Every channel blasting india after every defeat?  Every commentator asking sachin about retirement after every match? Pics of player sad and crying on front page?

 

Sachin got a lot of deserved accolades but once on top he got the most hate too

nah man, if you lived through that period you would know. Having effigies of you burnt after a poor series or tournament from the same people who were worshipping you not long ago was not uncommon. It started changing only after 2000. kohli barely has any haters who anyway are mostly confined to their own online echo chambers, he almost gets no pressure from the mainstream media.

I think it will be greater good for Virat himself. I know everyone in ICF hates him now but there is no denying dude is a bonafide ATG. Giving up captaincy will only improve his batting. If we get the Virat of 2015-2016 back, Indian cricket will be the winner.

His form is alright in ODIs/t20s though. His strike rate is a concern, but I doubt anyone in Indian tm cares about that. His test form is much bigger concern, he should quit test captaincy before LOI

You may be fine but one billion may not be. For us we live for the team to win not for the captain.. we should win and lose as a team.. captains comes and goes.. remember lots of people and if start searching many well known posters here were for rahane to be a captain .. now all of them have vanished..one summer doesnt make a swallow.. to me when we play international elite sports its what the team does matters not the captain..

the show must go on.. with or without the captain .. us spectators dont see cricket for the captain.. we see for the indian team.. in 1990s Azhar was the crappiest captain overseas.. but we still used to get up early in morning to see indian team play in australia and get murdered by mcgrath n brett lee.. we saw how laxman domiated in adelaide and how well tendulkar played in 1999..it was the genesys of big 4... azhar came and went.. so did Sachin. T20 is kinda like a penalty shootout which can go either way. Doofus has screwed up even in the format which gives a chance for redemption with a second innings. He ensured we wouldn't succeed in the WTC final with his idiotic (non)selections. Had a chance to redeem himself by batting for a few hours on the final day and promptly choked. What more proof is needed of his incompetency? He can't cut it in even slow paced test xeicket, what will he do in T20 where momentum changes in just 1-2 overs? He needs to go - either "voluntarily" or sacked overnight by the selectors.

Because of the 5th test fiasco where players rather than choosing to quarantine in Eng immediately flew to UAE, signs of being in talks with the franchises during an on-going series, the instigators Kohli and Rohit both should not be considered for captaincy. 
 

If there is a captaincy change, I hope it is a young captain for LOIs or T20s (if a separate captain for each format)
