Kohli seems like a very jealous type. Rohit scored 5 centuries in WC19 while he scored none. He couldn't digest Rohit becoming the best batsman in the side and his own form went south. Whenever Kohli desperately wants to do well, he puts too much pressure on himself and fails. Now he is at a point where just maintaining a decent average for a series and scoring an occasional hundred is beyond him. So he has taken to backroom tactics to derail his own teammate.

 5 WC 100s was the point where Kohli absolutely lost it vis-a-vis Rohit. It had come on the heels of Rohit leading MI to another IPL win just before the WC. The fear was understandable.

If you remember, Kohli was unlikely to travel to WI for the test and ODI tour. But after that WC, changed his mind and has hardly missed ODIs or T20Is since then, playing even the dead rubbers. Thats the level of his insecurities.

Due to performance & merit as captain.  At what age Mike Brearly was reinstated as captain ?.

BTW , Rohit will be captain for another 2+ years and in the meantime somone younger will be groomed  as vice captain in all 3 formats .

Don't take @rkt.india's such contrarian views on face value. If the others were to start saying we need a young captain, he'll immediately start rooting for an experienced captain.

What's his deal? ....  Reminds me of Sidhu Moosewala's song legend when he says "Mai duniya de opposite chalda,  Parallel chalda aa death te":hysterical:

This seems just a hogwash. Kohli knows RCB is going to not win the IPL again this time and he knows the call for him to step down from Captaincy is going to start again post that. So, cleverly he has announced stepping down only from T20 format captaincy to reduce all that noise.

How is stepping down from just T20s captaincy going to help his workload as he mentions? India hardly plays T20Is and he is stepping down only after World T20.

If true what a jealous person plotting against his own team mate. If someone would have asked his opinion than it was different but taking initiative and telling to remove rohit because of age constrained why can't he himself relinquish from captaincy across all format.

@Khota

Finally I agree with Virat. Atleast he knows about current batting lineup. Dhawan is a top three bat for India. Only ICF cannot see it.

Its not about what kohli wants . This work load reason does not go down well . If it is so he should be dropping off as captain of 50 overs and be available as a player , then playing select matches becomes easier . Here he wants to play T20 , IPL , Tests PLUS 50 overs as a captain (which means a certainity for every game).

Can india go for one captain for T20 only but another captain for 50 overs . That wont work out for long .

India should go for split captaincy  with one captain for T20 & 50 overs & another one for Tests . Workload management will be an issue for anyone even in future if he is captain of all 3 formats .

Apparently the selectors also couldn't  see it

Ideally should go with 3 captains, one for each format considering long term form concerns, pressure, work load, and potential for politics. Minimum 2 captains - 1 for tests, 1 for LOIs

Exactly my point. He should step down from both ODIs and T20s, otherwise doesn't make much difference at all.

I had a scenario in my head at that time if Kohli took his scheduled break during the West Indies series, we would have all these mind games, leaks and insecurities coming out around or even before the India - England series in India.

Earlier I was of view that BCCI should give him one last chance to win a trophy. But hearing him doing dirty politics behind Rohit, I believe, Kohli needs to be dropped. He is absolutely sinister and we can’t trust him. If he lost a cup to get rid of Kumble, I won’t be surprised, he will intentionally loose t20 world cup if he sees Rohit is winning it
