We kinda thought the same before 2003 world cup right after shellacking in NZ, same before 2019 world cup, 2017 CT. AuxiliA Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 Excited about the WC. This is perhaps the first time we have ever selected a proper T20 squad for the WC. Earlier our T20 teams were an extension of our ODI teams. Players like Dhawan 1.0, Rahane used to open. Ishant was our spearhead.

Jay Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 I expect us to win tbh. Too good a team not to win an ICC title. We need to win atleast one of this or 2023 WC. Don't care about WtC as long as we beat all the big boys. One off finals in tests doesn't mean squat.

I think problem is we don't have a set XI.. Two warm ups vs strong sides like Eng & Aus will give a fair idea if they have what it takes. Pakistan is weaker as well with Malik & Hafeez in MO. If India manages to survive opening burst of Shaheen it's over for Pakistan as simple as that. That's the game right there.

In T20s, we still got good bowling Relative to potential and available skillsets, ODI performances are poor, but I'd still back India to get to Semi-final in an ODI tournament. T20 is more of a lottery, because a couple of bad overs can cost you a key game. And in both formats, our batting units are selflessly aggressive enough up front - that is more costlier in T20 than in ODIs, hence my comment. I mean, its an opinion and a subjective one at that. But I feel comfortable stating it.

In Clown Kohli we trust to once again mess up through some silly captaincy and poor team selections. Despite his wings being clipped, he still has a huge damage potential (like he did in the other ICC tournaments). And by already making a comment on the coach selection process, he has already hinted at what he plans to do - portray himself as being under attack, getting no support from anywhere and damage BCCI.
