I agree with all that but still there are a lot of reasons to think that this is indeed our strongest 15 at a T20 wc.

2014 and 2016 - Brilliant top3 with peak Kohli+Rohit but an absolute dud middle order of washed up Yuvis, Rainas and Dhonis with pandeyji being the backup. Decentish bowling attack.

2009, 2010 and 2012 - Cannon fodder bowling attack or praveen, nehra, bhajji.

2007 - Extremely raw

Name wise this is indeed our strongest squad. But form wise it is quite poor. Not one player is in form or intl T20 standard. They are all either too slow(Kohli, Rohit), mentally weak(Rahul, Bumrah to an extent), brainless(Pant), heavily declined(Bhuvi, Pandya) or not cut out for intl T20(SKY, Varun, Shami) etc. So every player has issues.

Maybe Matunga has changed now but as a kid when I visited a couple of times, it didn’t exactly seem like an utopia :giggle:. Maybe I went to the wrong part of the town.

A few weeks after I got my license, I hoodwinked ( euphemism for emotionally manipulated) my mom into giving me her car coz my father wasn't convinced that I need my own car. Itna ronaa dhona/ruswai ki acting karni padi thi for that. SRK bhi pheeka pad jata mere samne.  I took my mom's car and picked up a few friends totally not showing off my newly acquired driving skills and headed for a reception at the Matunga Gymkhana. Not at the grounds, but their banquet hall. Once we reached it started raining heavily. The extent of which we would know only later.  The walk back to the car after the function was *the worst walk in my life*. Almost my entire sharara was submerged. I think I lost a shoe and an anklet too. We reached my my mom's car only to find it floating. One of my friends, who had no prior experience of cars or the rains, suggested that we open the door and drive back. Needless to say, I listen to her and as a result water entered the vehicle and it drowned. You could only see its roof. The mechanics could retrieve it only the next day.

I also have vague recollections of dodging sandals my mom threw at me, while I stood at the door drenched in wedding finery.

Too early, esp for Group 1, group of death

Group 2 can be considered group of death in its own way as teams that lose versus other top 2 teams are practically out. If there is a 3 way tie, the teams are under pressure to beat the lesser teams by big margins.

In group 1, you can sneak through if teams out of contention beat a few teams in contention. For e.g. If WI is out of it but play fearless cricket later on to spol other teams' chances.

Wait the OP calls out eng australia sa sri lanka and even puts in west indies whi have no chance.

in out group he calls out all four teams. How is it showing the four semis

if i had to venture it would be

eng australia pakistan new zealand

india is dark horse but our record against  nz is horrible

sri lanka or saffers can screw australia.

one good thing for us is that this defeat in first game has given us the much needed idea of wrong selections at the beginning than what kohli realizes in semis and final. Kohli makes stupid team selections and then corrects himself after a loss in knockout.

Grp1-  England and SA .

Grp2 - Pak and India.

Finals India vs SA(one game for two titles worldcup title and chokers of the world title)

And Pak-India final is a real possibility . After their shock defeat against Pakistan , India is expected to play at their standard level and beat NZL and anyone in SF. Pakistan has to maintain their current form for a bit longer which is not easy for them but hope they do.

India has not done well in knockouts since 2013. They are expected to lose the SF. And even by some miracle they win the SF, they will choke in the finals. Like a repeat of 2017 CT.

If you still depends on a washed up bhuvi,an out of form hardik ,two players on other sides of 30,a phony allrounder in t20 jaddu ,u know u have badly screwed up in planning and selection, the only consolation in this is if we fked up in this tourney it is guaranteed to have impact on brats place nd captainship in not only t20's but odi's as well .

BD has the potential to play the spoilsport in G1 as its last two games are v Aus and SA, both competing for the 2nd slot.

WI if it wins big in its next two games (one of them v Aus) and depending on how others go, can sneak in.

G1, going down the wire for the 2nd spot

Aus v WI and SA v Eng, along with NRR consideration if both Aus & SA win (or both lose)

I think it is setting down with Aus having an advantage. SA beating Eng will be a near upset given how Eng is playing.

Cricket (or sports in general) is a game of uncertainties so we have to consider the most probable options … a few good overs can decide this

Who would have thought we would shat in group stage itself, two cruicial games and captain chewt fked up.

Everybody just assumed we would beat Pak (on most days we do), but not this time. Made all the difference.

In G2, the status remain the same - if NZ beats AFG, it moves to the SF. If it does not, one of AFG and IND (if it beats NAM) have an opportunity to squeeze in as well

Aus practically in as SA, which is batting first, would need to beat Eng by 50-60 runs for any score above 150.

Miracles happen in cricket but Aus the favorite at this point.
