Indian cricketers who have benefitted from this debacle.

R Ashwin: Has become a tragic hero of sorts as Kohli right now is probably the biggest villain among Indian fans. Did well against minnows to make things worse for Kohli and much better for him.

R.Jadeja: believe it or not he sneaked in a man of a match and even if a whole new “mindset” thing starts with Indian cricket, he will sneak into the team yet again. His “utility” and fielding excuses will yet again be highlighted.

S.Dube: He played a blinder in the IPL. With Pandya’s stocks dropping a bit this Wc, there is already a buzz about giving him another shot.

S.Samson: Another guy who finished strong in the IPL. Once again all this new approach talk has put him in the spotlight for yet another comeback to finally unleash his tailunt. The fact that Dravid is one of his strongest supporters/ backers it is not too far off we see Sanju back in the team.

140+ bowlers: Tyagi,Umran Malik, Prasidh,Mavi will be fast-tracked now and given more opportunities

Md.Siraj: He is going to be an all format regular now.

Yuzi Chahal

 Anyone else?

I must say Ruturaj and Venktatesy Iyer (all round ability) will receive more attention now.  Khaleel may have a shot. Not sure about his current form. Due to him bowling left arm will be a bonus. But sadly he never went to next level like Siraj.

Agreed to all but the fast bowlers.

I will believe it when I see it regularly happen. The odds of the trundlers being persisted with are high. Even in tests if Bumrah, Shami and Ishant are fit - no matter who is coach and captain, you will see those three line up. Or else at most Bhuvaneshwar.

I would love to be wrong and have Siraj, Tyagi, Prasidh and Umran line up. It is not going to happen. Chahar, Sakaria and co are more likely with one of Siraj, Tyagi or Prasidh thrown in as a bone to the fans.

Feel most benefitted would be bcci, Kohli ke par katre, feel the captain wont get absolute power from now on first Dhoni now kohli proves too much power is bad, coach will also have more say.

Other options are as bad as him. Sakaria 130k legend. Unadkutter.  Khaleel at some point of his career did touch 140 plus. Arshdeep is there. But we have to see more of him.

Why can’t they all play? The point of a change is to play more high strike rate players in the 11 and not rotate them in a couple of slots (that is just repeating the old process) where they have to succeed almost every time despite playing a high risk game to benefit the team.

Eng plays 5-6 high strike rate batsmen in its top 7, where individuals do not need to be consistent but as a group, they are consistent as 2-3 of them in a random order will have a good day to make impact for the team.

If Eng played 1-2 such batsmen only, their performance would be similar to Ind’s counterpart. Imagine Buttler having to come in every time at 100 after 15 (Eng looks to get to 100 around 10 overs mark) and look to play a magical inning to get to a decent score. He would not have a high success ratio as he currently has with Eng. That is the issue/pressure that Ind big hitters are facing. If we do not change the system, it will not benefit any big hitter. The scores in T20s are only expected to go up esp. in places like Aus.

By playing 5-6, such high strike rate batsmen, the team is also creating a culture where almost everyone is attempting to win a game by batting the other team out (not seeking to get to safe totals)

No one benefits from such debacles as the team goes into a very messy transition period provided the board takes such exits seriously and handles any dissent with an iron fist empowering the new coach and captain. Like the 2005-06 period, there will most likely be a lot of chopping and changing in the next 6-9 months.

This was a team divided in camps. As captain changes, those groupings could become more troublesome. Not going to be a quiet period for sure as an Indian cricket fan.

Eng's big hitters are all very consistent too.

We don't have such talent. Guys like Dube/Parag etc come off very rarely

that was the period we got Dhoni,Irfan. Also that wasn't a result of WC loss as it came in 2007

Not bowling in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and in the IPL may hit Khaleel's chances a bit. Ruturaj and Iyer are likely coming in this NZ series.

With such resources available in Indian cricket, all we need is a calm captain who backs his players. I believe this has been the reason we have become a choker off late.
