Singh bling Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Earlier there were tri nation cups in ODI's which from past 7-8 years had been stopped. These tournaments were replaced with meaningless odi ,T20 bilateral series . Aus and England send their b or c grade teams while India takes them very seriously. Result indians feel they are superior . Bilateral series should be replaced by tri nation tournaments . Atleast their finals still have some pressure situation. vayuu1 Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Trilaterals or quadlaterals are the way to go, For instance aus ind eng nz quad series loi or t20 will be a mouth watering contest, tri series say sa ind sl will also be good nevada 1
badmash Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 But then what’s a T20 tri-nation series without the number 1 T20 team : Pakistan ? speedheat, Sgattick10, f20143g70 and 7 others 1 5 4
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Why not treat them as bilaterals and try out new players and new tactics. Use them to develop squad depth, not to pander to the ego of megalomaniac captains.

All other teams experiment in bilateral LOIs, we have had our captain keep the same team and same tactics even for dead rubbers. I doubt if he's missed any LOIs since the 2019 WC (except SL seres which overlapped with Eng tests)

Non Asian team fans hardly care about bilateral series so they can experiment and loose.

Aus,Eng play their b ,c sides against other sides but not India 1-2 seldom or forced changes dont make them b sides,i don't know what you are talking about Thing is bilaterals are no pressure games best time and.place to try newcomers or your bench strength on international platforms over the time they get mature, and play your shortlisted best candidates in most games in build up to the main tournament
Khota Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Clearing the bench is a concept desis are not used to.

SK_IH Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Thats a lifeline for someone like Kohli, meaningless records, greatest chaser, revenge against Kesrick Williams blah blah everything has been achieved via these bilateral series. If you remove bilateral series, Loli will be reduced to a middling cricketer I say don't stop bilateral series but utilize those series to play different brand of cricket. Losses should not matter nevada, SRT100 and Frustrated 3

Losses should not matter I would like to see different metrics applied in ascertaining success in these series. Like high SR, wickets taken in the powerplay, batsmen given plenty of opportunities to not only cement a place but feel comfortable and safe in the team. raki05 and SK_IH 2

Yes aren't we sick & tired of watching top 3 routinely play out 40 overs in these meaningless series to pile up records & then surrender meekly when it matters SRT100 and Frustrated 2
raki05 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 To play aggressive brand of cricket in T20 or ODIs. You need xi sehwag. Even though some of Indian players can play aggressive but still they take safety first approach. Prime example is Rahul he has fastest 50 in T20 ipl. We need coach like B-Mac who change mentality of players, selfish cricketers who does stats padding in biletral should be thrown away. SRT100 1
SRT100 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Bilateral series should be played, just with the condition that senior players always rested. With the end of this era, I highly doubt there will be any senior players bar KL in the team.

Players need to fear more a SR of around 100 more so than getting out. Im tired of stat padding. As an example, India have yet to prove to me they are out of their slump having lost badly to Pakistan and NZ. I never have recognized minnow bashing nor our achievements. Even if we score 300+ against Namibia the game is meaningless. raki05 1

But after the disaster in WC2019, he became insecure that Rohit leading us to wins would threaten his own position and started playing every single match of every bilateral. End result, he is burnt out and washed up. His insecurity and greed finished him off. SK_IH and Suhaan 2
