sarcastic Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) Who can play such a role as Jimmy did. Started effectively in 17th over (Face only one ball in 16th) and got out in 18th but scored enough runs quickly to set up the team for a great victory. Can Hardik Pandya do this for team India when it comes to situations such as this? Or will we have to wait to make another finisher of that calibre. Edited November 10, 2021 by sarcastic asterix 1

zen Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) If Neesham played for India, he would have been criticized a lot for his other innings to be able to do that for Ind … He is also played in test matches where he can develop his game. As for SDP, he has done it many times including standing up in CT final, various series v Aus, and so on. And he is doing it despite playing for a team with an old fashioned mindset like Ind Edited November 10, 2021 by zen
maniac Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 I voted for yes. Even though quality wise he is not as good as Neesham, he is the best we got when he is in full fitness as an allrounder. Deserves backing if fit and in form but doesn’t deserve to wrapped in cotton wool and protected because he has not done anything to deserve that. raki05 and Sgattick10 2

Pollack Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 If people say we have no alternative than Pandya to expect to do the job for us, I agree. But if they say he has already played clutch knocks and open a virtual "Sir Don academy" by his name which is sad really then I can all but laugh at fanboism. raki05 1
sensible-indian Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 To be fair to Pandya, he has never been in this situation.

Neesham can win matches but can he get 17 off Shaheen Afridi despite he himself scoring 11? Can he? Jawab do..If you can't answer than don't ever compare Neesham with our precious Pandya. He would have been had Dhoni been sent higher in 2019 WC semi final to anchor the inning at 24/5 ahead of Pandya. At 25/4, if you have Bevan and Maxwell in your team and you are chasing 240, you send Bevan ahead to take all his time and anchor the inning, and keep Maxwell for final 10 overs hitting. cricketfan28 Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Have been hearing things like these for the last 5 years.. we will never find that quality, our system doesn't encourage hackish play.

Considering the legendary "planning" we did before WC, it was not at all surprising.
