Can a pace bowler ever take 10 in an innings?

One of the spinners obvious advantage is that they can keep bowling all day. Laker took 53 overs and Ajaz 47

 

On the other hand Kumble did it in just 27 overs 

 

So is it ever in the realm of possibilities?

Workhorse pacers can take 10 wickets.

 

Another factor invovled is that other bowlers should be absolute useless even for spinners to take 10 wickets.

 

Kapil took 9 wickets.

Hadlee took 9.

Murali took 9 and iirc Vaas took last wicket.

If they can take 9, there's no reason why they can't take 10. Will happen at some time

Don't need workhorses either. Broad took 8 wickets in single spell. If wood didn't pick wickets from other end, he would have picked 10

 

Just needs to be only good pacer in the team on a good seaming track. Hassan ali might do it if Shaheen is rested

Not too sure with modern day cricket.

 

Its possible but unlikely.

 

Pace bowlers can only bowl at most 6-7 overs before hitting exhaustion.

 

Mind you in a poor bowling team its possible for one pace bowler to take all the wickets.

All those were long ago though. Modern day workload is more

that's same for turners where other spinner can take wickets.Here Somerville and Ravindra were mediocre but there was turn and bounce.

If you have only Ishant and Pat cummins  as fast bowling options on a fast pitch  sure it is possible.

Thats why this feat happened only three times in history of cricket.Afterwhile in Kotla other Indian bowlers were bowling not to get wickets.

for a pacer to take 10, the pitch must be highly helpful for their style of bowling (e.g., broad on some pitches) and the others must be: (1) not of the same quality, and (2) deliberately conspire to not take wkts.
