Sarfaraz Khan? lol.

When you have Gill, KL, Vihari, Iyer, why even think about Sarfaraz?

The replacements are more or less ready barring a few who will be ready in a year or two.

KL

Shaw

Vihari

Gill

Shreyas

Pant(wkt)

Then you have Washington Sundar and hopefully a couple among Ruturaj, Devdutt or Jasiwal might join too.

Sarfaraz should be in the 15, even if not in the XI. His style of play is ungainly and he is rather unfit, but he finds ways to manufacture runs - reminds me of a cross between ranatunga and de silva.

I think Gaikwad is most improved young Indian batsman atm.  He overcame his struggle vs left arm Pacers wonderfully this IPl & his power game was at another level.  Has the gift of timing like Shaw but a better player of spin imo.

Gaikwad should get a look in next year or so.

Exactly.. and Mayank as well

Mayank is a direct replacement for pujara..Ruturaj for Rahne

and when Rohit and Kohli are gone in a few years, the likes of Jaiswal and Padikkal should be ready.

Sarfaraz looks comical to me. I even rate Vijay Shankar and Easwaran higher than him

yes, he looks ungainly. and so does fawad alam. but some (not all) players like that still find ways to score runs. Sarfaraz should be given more opportunities in Ind A. If he does well, he can fill that no. 5 position since he scores at a good SR, bats well against spin, and can play with the tail

it does seem like the selectors and TM will persist with this trinity, come hell or high water.

The players who look ungainly and limited but find ways to score runs..

I would say that is Shreyas Iyer. Not the most pleasing or technically solid vs all types of bowling but he finds ways to perform in pressure situation.

If we don't pick this sort of lineup^ we will lose to saffers. They are bloody good now. Olivier is tearing through domestics with his bounce. Our bowling attack is the best in the world but I have no faith in deadwood batters of our team. We need to make proper selections.

Gill Shaw sunfar pant KL rohit are all key. They can play bounce. Add sarfraz. Sceptical of iyer vs bounce. He is mentally tough though.

If we go with kohli pujara rahane we are finished. Only one liability can play. Rather have kohli even though he is useless himself.

Sarfaraz will be the best test batsman among these
