Former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir is of the opinion that without the added pressure of the ODI captaincy, Virat Kohli is a much dangerous player. 

Speaking on Star Sports show Follow the Blues, Gambhir said, “The absence of captaincy might just free Virat Kohli up much more. He might just become more dangerous in white-ball cricket with the pressure of captaincy not being there on his shoulders.”

Have my doubts on that. His game has glaring technical deficiencies now, something which will not get sorted just because he is not a captain any longer.

 

Plus Gambhir gets most of his predictions wrong.

I am quite sure that even you know that Gambhir is actually right here.

A batsman averaging near 60 in odis 50 in test and t20s has a problem in technique? 

 

Bat pakda hai kabhi? 

 

There might be some minor adjustments which he need to make, but that's it. 

 

20k runs banane waale ko technique sikha rahe yahan par.

Toh mai ne bhi wohi bola na chomu... Pehle padhna sikh le. 

Do all this drama when be actually does those "minor adjustments" in his game. He isn't going to score hundreds again just because he left captaincy.

His batting has regressed. He has too many technical flaws in his game. Can't play the moving ball and can't hack it against spinners. Unfortunately he doesn't even have a good range of strokes to cover for the deficiencies. It's only going to be downhill for him I'm afraid.

He gets out to any right hand bowler now, left handed bowler too, lol.

He might give better output but his ceiling is very low these days. The century scoring spree heyday is well and truly past him now.

There's some hope if he isn't trying to play politics & is actually working to make sure India wins! This is SRT in his last quarter of his career, even with the massive dip in form towards the end he was always near the top \

Plays well or not, irrespective of that, he's not going anywhere before Worldcup 2023. If he comes good, then well and  good, but if he doesn't then...the next 3 years of ICF is going to be like "Bardaasshtt Nahi Kar Saktaaa"
