ravishingravi Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I feel 200 plus would be sufficient. But wickets here can flatten up over time. Let see.
Lord Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 atleast 250 if Siraj is out then need 300+ Clarke and SRT100 1 1

Yes that's a bit of an issue, we'll need some luck to get to 200+ (overall target) if the pitch continues deteriorating though I have a feeling a lot will depend on our "stalwarts" in the middle right now!
G_B_ Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 India needs 150-160 more.... This is a new SA team with a lot of new players. Not easy handling the pressure in the 4th, especially for an inexperienced team. There is variable bounce on this deck. India can take the Siraj injury in their stride if they bat out 50 overs tomorrow. Thats 40 overs which can easily split between Bumrah shami and Thakur. Ofcourse india should bat as much as possible, as there is more than enough time in the test. ravishingravi 1
SrinjayDutta Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I think only 250 is safe, and India needs to bat really well in the tough morning session before runs can be piled on in the 2nd. Its difficult to see Ind giving a lead of more than 180-200 here. A long tail and no in form batters left.
adi B Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Pitch might get worse tomorrow ,especially close to EOD ,it was already misbehaving in the final session. I'd say 210-220 should be more than enough but can't see India scoring 250 here ,we need a fluke innings by Thakur or pant
Texan Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 We need to set a target of at least 300, but I don't see how that will happen with our inept experienced middle order jokers at the crease. We might need Lord Thakur to shine again, this time with the bat.
vvvslaxman Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 250 will allow us to attack all the time. 200 will put us on the defensive mode.
neel roy Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Prediction addition to overnight score 58 lead + Pujara + 20 Rahane+ 17 Vihari +22 Pant + 19 Ashwin + 18 Thakur + 12 Shami + 8 Bumrah + 10 Siraj + 3 185 target based on current form ans probability Anything above will be overjoyed sensible-indian and adi B 2
jusarrived Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 180 I think we can defend, but 230 would be a certain win for us sarcastic 1

Once that effect wears off, the so-called variability on account of indents will kick in making it hard to bat. I feel pujara and rahane mught still nick a few and we may be 60-4 by lunch.(just that session).
vvvslaxman Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Keep in mind KL Rahul is captaining and Siraj is not available. KL Rahul field placings were innocuous today. sensible-indian 1
ravishingravi Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 I have a feeling the team will collapse tomorrow.

coffee_rules Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 250 should be the target, they will practically get to 230 or thereabouts

Pant had to make some suggestion. I don't think there was any coherent plan in containing the run flow. He didn't know whether to attack or defend. He kind did nothing in the end. Philander criticized his field set.
neel roy Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 The 38 run 7 th wkt partnership between maharaj n jansen was crucial. Siraj couldnt even run and bowl and he was a fielder. It should have been somebody else fielding. He couldn’t even gauge an easy catch from Maharaj. Clarke and Vijy 2
