The deadest of tracks where no one from Oz looked like taking a wicket. I remember that game. He bowled ok but nothing great about that performance and India ended up amassing 600+ in their only innings.
nitinbwj Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 No yorkers, short ball directed at body. No agression. Nothing!

When was the last time he played a test match in Asia? And what's his record here? Don't remember a single great spell from him outside Australia and England. What a naive comment …even Bumrah has played a mammoth 2 test matches in India in his entire career. Cummins performance in India has been pretty good, better than Bumrah. And elsewhere, he is way more consistent than Bumrah. You can only perform where you play. AKane, Under_Score and Frustrated 2 1

He was the best pacer after Umesh that game, you're also forgetting this was the first time he bowled in tests after 6 years! People make excuses for our bowlers all the time and you forget three key factors? Edited January 5, 2022 by R!TTER

Nikola Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 I don't remember bumrah having bad match other than WTC final. He has always contributed and came back even more strong. I back him to take atleast 3/4 wickets tomorrow.
New guy Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Batsmen go missing for 2+ years with occasional guest appearance. No problem A bowler averaging 22 doesnt take wickets in one match. Lets blame him! Forever Indian, vijaydude, Laaloo and 4 others 7

Not too long ago, Bumrah struggled to take any wickets on the most green and pace friendly NZ wickets where we got whitewashed 0-2. (2020 Feb). Ishant outperformed him on that tour. Can't believe I m saying this. But that's what really happened. raki05 and Vijy 2

However, in SA , 240 is usually considered a defendable target. Hardly any team has chased 220+ targets successfully in SA. Pace bowlers need to be questioned if they can't defend 240 on these tracks. Vijy and raki05 2

He is yet to play in NZ as well. But I hate when people say Cummins in a different league and Bumrah is just great. He clearly performed better in Australia than Cummins in India. People forget Australia is Cummins' home so don't I rate his record in Australia (average 20.31) as better than Bumrah's 21.25. PS: These two are in a league of their own. Bumrah is not very far. express bowling 1
Insidious Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Terrible bowling by bumrah today. Bowling leg stump half volleys one after another. Does n't know what length to bowl, on a pitch that was offering stiff bounce. Gifted the match today to south africa. Frustrated and Vijy 2

However, I feel Cummins is a master of consistency whereas Boom is a master of searing spells, as I wrote earlier in the thread rangeelaraja and express bowling 2

Zak did well overseas, but mostly after his county stint. boom would benefit from one, if he had the time.
Majestic Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 1 hour ago, Vijy said: has an avg of 39 in NZ and 29 in Eng; former is horrible and the latter is mediocre. Lack of support here as well? Besides, lack of support didn't stop several pacers from doing well in India: Steyn is the most extreme example, but there are others. As it stands, Rabada is not that diff than Boom - neither are Cummins. Yes, he hasn't been good there. But I watched him in India. He was bowling well but clearly lacked support. There wasn't enough pressure been kept at other end and that's why he has poor record there. In that series, Philander was treated as stock bowler and Mayank/Rohit absolutely nullified Maharaj and co. Rabada showed some spark but neither he had runs on board nor bowling support to bowl to. Steyn often had his batters score a lot of runs that help him. Vijy and Chakdephatte 2

I'd pick him as a pure bowler ahead of Philander, Morkel, Fanie de Villiers, and potentially even Pollock. So, it's not that I am ignoring him altogether. Just highlighting some areas he should work further on. express bowling 1
