Just needs to copy what Cummins does & keep bowling at a regular spot with pace. He used to do that a lot earlier but now he tries too much sometimes. Keep it simple. With this kind of bowling he will be carted around in Asia. he was also carted around in WTC final and now here. it's not just about bowling line/length. He needs to outthink batters and get their wkts.

He will bounce back.

We weren't losing that test, you forgot that as well? Here we had a 50/50 chance at best & the time his spell was done the game's already over! Now if you talk about his batting - he's done much better than I expected in the last year or so.
deathmonger Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 I mean all great bowlers have off days. McGrath and co allowed WI to chase 418 once. And once they took 0 wickets in a day of a test match in Kolkata. The current NZ bowling attack conceded something like 400 against Bangladesh. Cummins and co conceded 600+ against us on Sydney and have allowed 5th day chases in Gabba and Headingley. The opposition has also come to play. Bumrah has won us MCG 2018 on a flattie (considering it rained last day, without his 6-fer might have been a drawn series). Lords 2021 and Oval 2021 - England might have not won those two but could have drawn them. Stan AF, vijaydude and Sgattick10 3

Not sure why. Even during fab 4 days we never did well on spicy pitches. Never performed on dangerous pitches like that of wanderers in 2018. Not once. We got flattened by Kiwis for 92 and 100 in n.z on seaming tracks. Demolished by saffers on pattas in 2001 rofl because we couldn't handle bounce at the time. We did fight well vs Aussies well though. As always except 2011.

That is just not true, Mcgrath had off days on either batting paradises or spinning wickets.Warne did not play in that 418 run chase. Bumrah did not look like getting a wicket for majority of the match on seamers paradise. He did the same in ICC test finals and of 2019 Semifinals he took one wicket. So question still remains can Bumrah be effective on seaming wickets? Frustrated 1
vvvslaxman Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 I remember there was one match NZ was surprisingly looked like pull off a test win. Mcgrath resorted to bowling wide balls to waste the time. THey managed to earn the draw with that strategy. Probably India strategically should have bowled a lot of widish balls after a point and make them earn the runs.

Instead of making them earn every run , the bowlers kept bowling at wickets and pads. There was no plan in any of the bowling.

He bowls well when there is only two possiblities of either draw or win. He bowled well when india gave 70 overs to score 290 to England. There are hardly any bowlers who can consistently defend low targets except for Ambrose/Walsh/Bishop.

When all of our bowlers are fully fit and firing, we are by far the best bowling attack in the world. Bumrah Siraj Shami Shardul Umesh In tandem we are unstoppable provided everyone is fit. Right now shami is getting older. Siraj has some injury woes. Shardul is a beast yes. Umesh is getting older. We need our new gen bowlers like prasidh, tyagi coming in to support bumrah. Remember shami is 32 but real age we all know is 36 probably. He can't steam in every game. He should be used every alternate game. Siraj's problem is bubble fatigue and some fitness issues. He will be fine. Just needs some time to rediscover his form. Fitness will get better. We need new upgrades in prasidh, saini who is doing well now and tyagi. Saini leaks a bit but he can be a wicket taker. Very good in A tours off late. Edited January 8, 2022 by Jay express bowling 1

And at Lord's where Bumrah just got wickets of Root and Robinson at the critical stage won't show up on stats as well. express bowling, Jay and Chakdephatte 2 1

Unfortunately bumrah is not a wicket taker anymore he should be enforcer like Wagner. Have shami and siraj open. Or siraj and prasidh. Bring bumrah on to do Wagner like job. He doesn't even need to bowl fast. Just 130 135 and bowl those unsettling bouncers. He can do serious damage and still be rated as a top tier player.

We cant expect team India to win every game, I agree, but there is one thing in losing and another losing with a fighting spirit for your country. This was a gutless weak effort by our bowlers that lacked discipline and a game plan to hunt as a pair. By losing to this margin, it will give SA a lot of confidence should they find themselves in this predicament again in the third. I could handle a 3-4 wicket loss, not a 7 wicket. Then again who the f**k am i kidding here, with TM, when you select Pujara, Rahane and Vihari along with Pant as your middle order and below average all arounders like Thakur and Ash in SENA, we should be lucky we loss by 7 wickets and not an innings.
