South Africa seems determined to finally shed the "choker" tag.

Recommended Posts

How many times in history following their return in the '90s have they been called chokers?  Put together the win tomorrow with the one in the 2nd test, and they can forever get rid of that moniker.  They have found a new lease of batting life in DE, KP, TB (I am not a fan of too many non-Indian players, but KP's batting makes a compelling case; TB too seems like a clutch player).  Add Jansen in the bowling dept, and all you can do is tip your hat to them for coming back after Test-1 and winning against a decent Indian team.

They were never a chokers in bilateral series. We tend to appreciate the Aussie dominance in the 2000’s but tend to forget that SA we’re still giving them a run for their money. Had they managed to win an ICC tournament, we would be taking their name along side WI and Aus teams. In fact mid-late 90’s there was a void and SA was the best team in the world

The tag is there due to failures in World tournaments.

1996, 1999, 2011 and 2015 are standouts among them. In both 96 and 11, they won all games in league and then got knocked in their first knockout game.

Haan re baba ... see my maan gaye post above.

Kuch bhi? Choker is an elite tag which will remain with them until they win a world event. BTW they have even bigger choker leading the opposing side, so it's a great contest

But SA have won the 1998 ICC Champions trophy with all major teams competing
