England keeps on churning exciting white ball batsman.

I think this has become cultural now. It also makes sense economically. If you bat like Pujara no league will bid for you. If you bat like Pollard you can settle for your life. These guys are being smart about it. England Test performance may have regressed. But their LOI future is good.

But no one cares about winning LOI. Well odii world cup matters ofcours.e

Literally no one game a **** here in Australia about them winning t20 WC.

They do care about test wins vs england, India and south.africa.

Even odi WC isn't that celebrated but it matters more than t20.

Salt and Banton.. powerhitters who have been doing it for quite some time now. Atleast Eng has the players ready for T20. We still don't have a powerhitter in the white ball format and our Test Team is also on a decline. :wall:

this guy has been playing mind blowing innings for many years in BBL.. should have got picked long long long back.. Eng selectors too are crazily short sighted

You can see that in the IPL. Most of the franchises depend on foreign mercenaries for late order hitting.  Pandya used to do well in death overs. His stock went down as well. Sharukh is the new flavor. We lack the brutal power hitting that you see from other countries.

What a dumb strategy. They should follow Indias blueprint to help post a challenging 120ish total in T20s. Boundaries and strike rates are over rated and they do not matter.

Looking at England line up they are already trying to build up..  While we have our seniors hogging spots but still losing.

Banton has been given a long rope & looks like he will be gun for them in future.  Salt impressive on debut.

U19 opener last night was brutal as well.

they have top tier ODI/T20 bats, but their test talent is severely depleted. other big hitters include tom lammoby (152 SR), Kohler-Cadmore (30 avg and 140 SR), Harry Brook (33 avg and 143 SR), Joe Clark (29 avg at 155 SR), all-rounder Jordan Thompson (166 SR!), Tom Abell (34 avg at 144 SR); likes of laurie evans and ian cockbain are also pretty good.

Kishan made a similar debut 56(32) as did SKY 57(31) on their T20 debut. Our great TMs, in an effort to protect the interest of the seniors, then shuffled their batting positions and have given them stop start careers.

This! Deserving players are either  benched & in the rate chance they get a chance they are either dropped or moved around to upset their rhythm.

The only vision is how to extend the careers of have beens so they can remain relevant in IPL & pad their bank balances.

The scary thing about these exciting batsmen is that they play proper cricketing shots too and are not just cow corner slogger. They just do not swing the bat wildly and hope to connect.(hint : Pandya) Heck, Chris Woakes who is primarily a bowler bats like a proper batsman and he can accelerate too not just hang around.

Test class batsman are a problem world wide.  Maybe not in NZ.

Even Australia has banked upon Travis Head in middle order who bats in LOI mode..  Was a T20 specialist earlier in the career as well.

Mitchell Marsh was brought in..  Now Talks are about Maxwell for Pakistan tour as he plays spin well & offers a spinning option.

Except wild slogging I think Test match batting has evolved as well.  There's no place for grafters.  Old school unorthodox players like Elgar are an exception of course.

Guys like Sam Hain or Kohler Cadmore,  James Vince may do better than other England Test specialists have to offer.

Jonny Bairstow brought in mid Ashes did better with the bat with his positive approach.

A player that is good against spin & has good front foot defense & solid backfoot game..  Can do well in both ODI/Tests.   T20 of course has innovation angle as well

test batting in NZ is quite easy after 1st innings, so many of their players have big home records. test batting everywhere is not equally a problem. india's middle order is so bad and likewise for eng that it may feel that way. but the likes of Pak, NZ, Aus, etc. are managing okay. Even SL has improved compared to past few yrs

14 years since IpL started and we have barely produced one or two.

I am curious to know those one or two. Who?
