sarcastic Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 I think so. Shreyas has put such a consistent performances that he will not be out of playing XI when the full squad is back. I would think there will be pressure on Virat Kohli, the greatest T20I batsman for India to keep his number 3 position. But it is still early days. We need to wait until few more series against strong team to say that Shreyas can be as good or better than Virat Kohli. All the best Shreyas. I reckon you are higher up the pecking order over KL Rahul now. raki05 and tweaker 2
zen Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Can't just go by the SL series in IND. Have to see IPL and then many series to follow including versus SA & Aus in India, tours to Eng & WI, and Asia Cup in SL. If we have to go by the SL series, replace KL with Samson, Bumrah with Avesh, Pant or whoever with Hooda, and so on. Edited February 27, 2022 by zen Adamant 1
Laaloo Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 There’s not much competition. Top 2 t20 batsmen have been yuvi and Kohli. Raina is also a top 5 player. As well as KL Rahul. Rohit sharma is up there as well.
Majestic Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Good T20I batsman but suited to certain batting positions only. Not as versatile and explosive as Pant and SKY who can bat at any position all the way till no.6 also. Iyer is best at 3 and 4 only.
coffee_rules Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Shreyas after reading this thresd And then meets Mrs. Chahal nevada and raki05 2
Vijy Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 This was a second tier SL attack, but full credit to how he played. better to have a problem of plenty than paucity of riches.
cricketfan28 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 Too early but what he did in this series is very impressive.

On top of that Shreyas Iyer to become the next greatest T20 International batsman for India, That too on the basis performance against the club level attack of Srilankans. This is Padosi Level delusion. Phookte Raho!! Norman, coffee_rules and Frustrated 3

Kohli's accomplishment as a T20I batsman is next to none for team India. Yes, the jury is out for Shreyas but what he did here is commendable. We have to wait and see how he fares elsewhere.

Under new management he seems to have changed his approach and is batting more freely in T20. Of course, it helps when the opposition is weak but at-least he didn't waste his opportunity.
