Gill is not T20 ready yet. Samson should have been in place of Pant.  India was never going to take 3 wicket keepers. Either way this is just reserve. As good as not being selected.

Asia cup, T20 etc are just for participation sake. Neither the selectors nor the captain and coach care about anything. They are just going through the motions, pulling names out of a hat and acting like they are doing something. No need to keep any hopes or follow the progress(lack thereof) of this uninspiring team.

Yup. India has the best record in Australia. Won 7 out of 11.  England lost 7 out of 8.  Pakistan oh well never won a match in Australia. They could barely cross 150 in any innings.  Bhuvi has an excellent ER in Australia. Problem will once again be death bowling.

If you play all of them along with Chahal (who will definitely play), Bumrah, Bhuvi you will lose a batsman.

Iyer is also not ready for T20s. And probably would never be.

That 3 wicket spell vs SL  by chahal has done more long term damage to us.  Right now,  we are the only T20 team in this WC whose spinner can't bat.   Look at hasaranga, shadab and nawaz.   Even Adam Zampa has started hitting few boundaries as seen in the match vs NZ.

TBH, Hooda deserves more chances.  Not as a finisher.  But in the top or middle order.  Agree on pant and ashwin. They are useless.

India lack at least 2 good fast bowlers (who also have some slogging ability) and a good leg spinner to compete in World T20.  At least could have gambled on Bishnoi as a surprise package but not expecting much from Yuzi or Ashwin. Even the middle order with Sky, Pant, and Pandya is hit or miss in T20s.

 

With this team, they will do very well to reach super six stage. Not expecting anything beyond that.

I know he is a trundler, but I would still take him IN, If he can bat like he did in the year 2012-2017.     Right now ,he is a tail ender and does not merit a place in the 11.
